Doesn't Meet Basic Standards

This Automotive Sensor fell short of my expectations. When I tried this product, it didn't work as it should. I had to deal with a Check Engine Light and multiple issues that arose because of this faulty sensor. Though the price is affordable, the quality doesn't measure up.

Pros
  • Affordable price
Cons
  • Poor quality, caused Check Engine Light to come on and other issues.

Hours wasted troubleshooting not working

Installed during timing as later replacement is difficult. The sensor turned out to be a cheap, non-working sensor. I compared it to an original Ford crankshaft sensor and the magnet on it didn't have enough strength to stick to metal like the original sensor did. I had a crank situation and no start. I put the original sensor back in and my truck fired up right away. Replacing the crankshaft position sensor on a 5.4 liter 3-valve engine takes 2 hours. Plus 2 hours troubleshooting. Lessonsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Ready to fit - mates with factory plug for plug and play installation
Cons
  • Not automatic

Dorman Crankshaft Sensor

I purchased this crankshaft sensor to replace the sensor in my 2000 Mercury Marquis which is 20 years old. which has 34,000 original miles on it, believe it or not. I have code PO 320 on the check engine light on the dash. After some research I realized it could be either a camshaft position sensor or a crankshaft position sensor so I bought both from Revain. On these vehicles, replacing the camshaft position sensor is easiest at the very front. Changed it and then took my OBDII reader andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Direct Replacement - This crankshaft sensor is exactly the same fit and function as the original equipment sensor
Cons
  • Operating Speed
