🔧 Dorman C93742 Parking Brake Cable: Superior Quality and Performance Review

This was the correct cable for my 1988 standard cab, standard bed, 4WD Toyota pickup. I bought one that was listed as 1988 but it was too short. This one was about 70 inches long with the right ends for my pickup.

As others have pointed out, Dorman and Revane listed this wire as incorrect for my 1988 Toyota pickup, 4x4, short bed, standard cab. But it fit perfectly. All my local parts stores couldn't find the right one either. I'm so glad my Ebrake is back!

Many 1st Gen 4Runners suffer from brake cable breaks on the firewall. It's very hard to find a good one at a junkyard and just as hard to find one online as this part has been discontinued. Turns out this long bed truck cable is PERFECT. Each clip snaps back into place, won't bend, won't stick, and works without modifications.

The yoke had many adjustments so it fits perfectly. The replacement took half an hour and now my parking brake is working again. The worn end prevented it from fully loosening.

You need to find a wire assembly that fits a modified/raised 1987 Toyota pickup (4x4, stock platform, not '87 frame?) that had no working parts, just trying to fix it with old wires and corrugated sleeves screw on . The 87 cable was too short and had two "ball" ends. Luckily, the Dorman website lists jacket length, cable length, and end photos.
