Dorman HELP 55101 Choke Conversion Review

1st incoming screw breaks before tightening and one of the three is already missing. There was no seal. All devices were very light and easily broken.

This product seemed to work well, but it doesn't hold up at all in everyday use. I think it would be ok for regular use but not available all the time

I've installed several of these over the years. Mostly on trucks. Supplied with all necessary parts. The only downside is that the cable that comes with it is a bit wobbly. Sometimes it needs a little more support. Good value for money.

Cheap kit, handle made of very thin plastic that can break at any moment, the cable is very soft and bends too easily. Worked about a month and then died out. I got it back in shape but it still sticks and never works properly. The manual choke is very sensitive on my Chevy 235. So it doesn't quite work and I need to find something else

is enough to replace a broken autochoke. the downside is that it's not always easy to set it "right". The clip tends to bend and I had to tie it to something else to keep it from bending. With an extra bend, the inner wire may not slide as easily as intended. I had to trim the outer shell to reduce flex. It's not easy, but once it's finally adjusted, the truck runs much better. I'm a fan of Dorman products but this kit is a huge exception. The cable is so light that it doesn't actually go through the body of the reel (which doesn't have a vinyl jacket). Back to the flimsy cable and case and the cheap, very flimsy mounts. When pulling or pushing the cable, the cheap mounts flex and the cable doesn't move in and out to operate the choke. I find it funny to see negative reviews because the kit doesn't quite fit. Most importantly, the kit contains the components needed to build a hand throttle and it takes a bit of ingenuity to make it work. First off, the universal mount that came with it didn't even come close to fitting in my car, nor was it strong enough to do the job. I bought a 5" angle mount and built my own stronger mount.
