Description of 🌬️ Dremel 490 Black Dust Blower

Blows dust away for greater visibility of the work piece. Great for sanding, engraving and carving. Also fits the 225-01 Flex Shaft Attachment. Fits on all rotary tools with a standard collet nut (except 4200). Always handy because it's always on the tool.

Does not work with the WEN tool.

Give 5 starts because it looks like a great little block but doesn't work with my WEN. It never said it would, I just thought at this price point it was worth checking out. Just posting this in case anyone else is wondering like me.

It's not worth it. in Rotary Tool Parts & Accessories

Very small and doesn't move much air. Overall, I'm very disappointed that it didn't work out better. I think it depends a bit on the particle size of the material you are working with. For example, it is not enough to motivate metal shavings out of the working area of the tool. It's a shame, I really liked the idea.

Essential for GREAT Dremel jobs

This is a great accessory if you know what it's for and what it's not for. It is a SMALL fan that blows dust away from the instrument. The surface you are cutting. Ideal for INSERT work or other small and tight work. This is a metal nut with plastic blades and a circle around the tips of the blades. It should NOT come into contact with anything.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Works as advertised

This fan works as advertised, the biggest issue for me is that it's too big. I use slow speeds, some bigger bits and mostly work close-up. It is well made and replaces the chuck, so with its large diameter hand tightening is a reasonable option. Another issue I'm having is related to the size of the fan and the fact that it's metal and easily scratches or scratches what I'm working on.

  • Sturdy build

Good idea, but just doesn't work!

I had to wait for a nice spring day to start my project. Didn't work, interfering, wiping and burning tracks wherever it touched at low speed. At low speed it didn't blow at all. Only worked at high speed, it just doesn't work. Good idea, but doesn't work. I should have taken a picture but I had to use a flashlight on my project to hide the burn marks! I tried hard to get it working and ended up taking it off my instrument. Dissatisfied! I want my money back! Please and thank you

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • Requires socket

I have been using this accessory with a Dremel tool since I bought it and am very happy with it. It is very cheap and worth the money. It creates a nice light breeze that blows away the dust/shavings created when using the Dremel tool. This in turn makes it much easier to see what your Dremel tool is doing and allows you more control and manipulation of the tool as you see fit. Would recommend to anyone using a rotary tool.

Really light wind in exchange for numerous flaws

Just used it for 5 hours digging shallow channels in luxury vinyl decks. It produces almost no wind and there were still shavings everywhere. I'm sure they are heavier than the wooden ones, but still. It would be okay if they just didn't do their job well, but you also lose a lot of visibility. I've used it on a pen and it sticks out so much that the blade is barely visible. The latter is my fault, but there were some very bad scratches in a couple of spots quite a distance from where I was…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Mostly good but...

Doesn't work and parts are missing from the description

I wasn't sure how this blower would attach to my old Dremel 398 based on the description. But it said it would fit any Dremel that uses a standard collet. Well the standard collet fits my Dremel so I ordered it. The problem is that I don't use a standard collet. I use a much more convenient Dremel chuck that is similar to a drill chuck. It's much more convenient than switching between four different sized collets. The description should have simply been that the blower should replace the collet

Pros
