Description of π§ Enhance Precision with Drill America's High Speed Adjustable Threading Cutting Tools
High-speed steel tools are good for most general purpose applications, offering a combination of hardness and toughness for wear resistance. Right-hand cut tools have a cutting action that engages when they are run in a clockwise direction. Round die is chamfered on both faces. Adjustment is obtained by a fine pitch screw which forces the sides of the die apart, or allows them to spring together. The slot is beveled.
After I put it to the test, I can confidently say that this threading die is a fantastic addition to any maker's toolkit. I was able to easily adjust it to create threads for a variety of bolt sizes, which made my project much more efficient. The high-speed steel material also ensures that the die will last for years to come. The only downside is that it requires a bit of prior knowledge to use, but the results are well worth it.
Pros
Efficient and accurate threading with adjustable cutting tools
Cons
Requires some knowledge and experience to operate effectively
May be good for repairing damaged threads but not suitable for cutting new threads. Well, it's threaded, but far less than 50% engagement with proper 1/8-27 NPS female threads. Someday when I'm bored I'll pull out my string micrometer and check it out.
Pros
Right-handed people have a cutting action that locks when turned clockwise
This 1/8-27 NPS die is marked Made in China. I couldn't find the country of origin listed on Revain and was hoping it was made in the USA since the company is Drill America. The quality may just be good (or not), but I don't want to support China. I'll be back.
