Great cigar lighter plug replacement

This little unit was perfect - replaced 2 or 3 cigar lighter adapters. Very simple instructions and clear circuit diagrams.

Works well.: Power Accessories

Works well. Used this for a robot project. It's estimated that I used quite a bit of its power and didn't have any issues, but I didn't actually measure to see if I was really drawing as much as I expected. Anyway, for what I needed it for, it worked fine.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Reliability

This rating is subject to change.

The first thing I bought was a 5 watt unit that lasted less than a year. To be fair, I've used GPS and Kindle and they may have drawn more than the recommended current. This time I have 10W, I'll let you know how it works.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Small parts

Sturdy construction and functions as expected

I've just done preliminary testing but I'm using this product to power two elements in an RV with a 12v battery, both require 5vdc. I'm using a Raspberry Pi and an XM receiver and I did a quick test with a 12V source and hooked up the PI and XM radios. The converter output voltage was measured at 5.01 VDC and both elements performed as expected. Haven't done a permanent install yet, but the product is solid with excellent heat dissipation so I don't expect any issues.

Ideal for installing RPi3 and SSD.

For powering Raspberry Pi 3 and SSD. Set up the system so I can use the Pi system around the house or just move it to our teardrop camper. The Pi acts as an entertainment center (OpenElec and Gnome Mate and Raspbian installed). Turn on the test power with a 10 to 19 volt DC input to test its ability to control the output. Ideal 5.1V output on all tested inputs. The Pi and SSD together draw 4.3 amps at 5V, and that's not a problem as all of my power supplies can go well beyond what is required.

Car charger is a workhorse!

50 watts of pure DC power at 5 volts, what more can one say? The case heats up above 25 W output power, but does its job of controlling the components. I am currently using this for a five port USB charging station in my car. To charge non-Apple devices, simply connect the power outlets on that device to the USB port. If you want the connector to be Apple compatible, just google "Apple charging resistor with instructions" and click on the instructions link. One more thing, you need 65W on the…

  • Definitely a bad product

No, I didn't connect the wires backwards. I really have the bad part. Too bad I didn't measure the performance before installing it, but I assumed I actually got what I paid for. Instead, I installed it in my car, stuck my raspberry pi in, and the pi started smoking, phew. He's dead. Killed Raspberry Pi 3B+ and 7 inch screen. I measured the output on the workbench, spent a few hours double and triple checking the wiring, and found that the 12V input produces a 12V output. Today is a big lesson…

Fantastic for my use case! Versatile, small and handy.

These guys have made it so much easier for me to provide energy for my Christmas/Christmas light show. The show is a mix of AC and DC lights. DC lighting is great (RGB and pixels and what not), but the voltage drop, especially for the WS2811's 5V pixels, is something I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out. I used these for my hard to reach poles (on the 2nd floor) where I needed to run longer cables from the PSU to the pole, so I was worried only a 5V drop would be an issue. As some of…
