Very poor documentation and unusable for the average hobbyist.

I got this HM-10 working but with very little documentation help and no help from DSD Tech. If you are an experienced electronics hobbyist/engineer/technician you might be able to get it working. Although the documentation says it runs on 3.6-6V, you really only need 5V. The Rx input requires a maximum of 3.3 volts, so you'll need to use a voltage divider to divide the output from say an Arduino Nano reduce module. But the voltage divider may already be on the motherboard, but there is no…

Genuine JNHuaMao modules, HM-10 BLE 4.0

I bought 4 of these in September 2017 and lost track of them in all the inventory I have on hand. After discovering them this week, I did my research and discovered that this is a genuine JNHuaMao Technology item. As mentioned in other reviews, these are not "fake" or "cloned" skirting boards; and a few minutes with the appropriate datasheet and spinning around the block in the console session will put an end to this problem. Using a serial console on my Linux computer and connected to the DSD…

Genuine HM-10 modules, not fake!

I bought several HM-10 bluetooth boards for different projects and half of them turned out to be "fake". (The fakes have unknown firmware that doesn't implement the instruction set of the real HM-10 board.) These boards are real. A quick check with a terminal program for sending AT commands shows that this is an official firmware download. AT+VERS? The team has returned the v550 firmware release and checking several AT commands that should be supported in this release shows that they all work…

It works on a basic level

I got this device to add Bluetooth capabilities to my Teensy project. Unlike the Arduino schematics poster, connecting to Teensy is very simple. Just connect GND to GND, VCC to 5V. Then RX and TX to RXn and TXn (blue on the pinout). Then you work with your code as you would with a USB serial connection, but instead of Serial.print() you should use Serialn.print(), where n is the number of the serial port that you also have connected. That's all! So, with some basic code, you can receive Serial…
