🚴 Enhance your Cycling Performance with the DT Swiss 36T Star Ratchet Upgrade Kit Review

I decided to upgrade my DT240s with a freewheel when I noticed some wear on the aluminum freewheel housing. I replaced the aluminum bushing with a steel bushing; Yes, it's heavier, but at least it lasts a long time. So as part of the upgrade I decided to get a new ratchet with more teeth than the original. The original DT Swiss grease was clearly ideal for the professional job.

Upgrade a standard 18 tooth ratchet on a DT Swiss 350 hub to 36 tooth. Installation is easy and takes less than 10 minutes with the included lube. Be careful not to apply too much lube! When you ride rough terrain like southern Utah, 10 degrees of engagement is a huge improvement over the rock-clearing ratchet pedal. Ratchet 36T should be standard. Worth the cost of the upgrade.

This product has an immediate and noticeable effect by eliminating much of the loose engagement that occurs with stock hubs/cranks, especially if you are upgrading from 36 teeth or less. Engine power appears to turn on 10x faster. Installation was very easy if you have basic MTB knowledge - +/- 10 minutes. * It makes your band sound like you're being chased by a swarm of angry bees!

Received the product expected and shipped quickly. The star ratchet works as expected with 6 degrees of engagement. Very easy to install. Much nicer than an 18 tooth star ratchet upgraded from a DT Swiss 350 rear hub. Expensive but for only a few small machined rings. You will be amazed at how small these two ratchet rings are once you get your hands on them and how much you paid for these tiny items.

This is a really useful upgrade for your DT hubs. I use this kit both on the road and in the mountains and the improvement in hub responsiveness is immediately noticeable. I'm deducting a star because, let's be honest, this item is INCREDIBLY overpriced. $100 for two pieces of extruded aluminum and a pair of springs is highway robbery. But it's still a great upgrade and worth doing, especially if you're already maintaining an existing free hub.

I was trying to save money and buy the Chinese version of this ratchet. Bad move. I decided to just spend the money as I wanted to fit 54 teeth. Installation was easy, the craftsmanship of the mechanism was as expected considering the price for such small pieces of metal. They do their job and I have no complaints. I am satisfied with the purchase because it does exactly what it says it does and fits as it should. If I have any problems, I can contact the company (DT Swiss or dealer) for help.

I mounted these star ratchets on my old quick release hub, the hardest part was removing the end cap. I used a QR skewer and inserted it from the other side (same side as the brake disc). Instead of pushing it through the hole, I deliberately pressed it against the inside of the lid and pushed the lid out (may need to be gently tapped with a tool).
