What a huge waste of money!

I put tape on the cracked part of the taillight and to be honest it only lasted a couple of weeks before it fell apart. I was really hoping it would be better than it was. Attention buyers - without UV protection it will quickly be destroyed by the sun! I guess they think you're not going anywhere with your car.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Clarity

Reusable brake and taillight assemblies, parts and accessories

Haven't used it on cars but it worked great on my Celestron Power Tank. I replaced the bulb with an LED but it was too bright even with the red lens. A strip of this tape on the front and back of the clear lens obscured the red, darkening it enough to get night vision but leaving it bright enough to see through my eyepieces and other astronomical gear.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Not the best

Make your background bright red

I'm giving this stuff five stars because it worked great for my application. No, I didn't use it to repair a broken taillight. When my taillight breaks, I replace it and don't put ugly tape on it. I used this on some of my landscape spotlights to make them red. Went like clockwork. I tried cellophane, but over time it disappeared. I suspect that this material will be much more durable.

Pros
  • A few competitors
Cons

Excellent accessory for astronomy

This thing is amazing. I bought a few rolls to make them red for my car's interior lights. I do a lot of astronomy and being able to see in my car without going blind is a huge bonus. I've also used it to cover the lanterns and some of the lanterns we use at the small local observatory. I'm sure it probably works fine for its intended purpose too, but I only use it to convert white light to red.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • I don't really like anything, everything is fine

Closes the hole in the rear/brake light!

Had a big hole in my wife's car tail/brake light and was trying to tape red cellophane wrap to the headlight. It broke, so I looked for Revane and found this tape. I cut off a large piece, patched the hole, and then my wife started the car, honked the horn and also slammed on the brakes. The tape worked like a charm, the lights shined through and it completely covered the hole. Protects against rain and insects. Holds up even after a week of rain. Definitely recommend!

Many uses, even in a car

I have tried using overly bright white LED lights instead of low brightness incandescent bulbs, for the "REAR" lighting, not the BRAKE. (By comparison, traffic lights should announce LOUD.) I took one of those white LED lights and carefully wrapped half of the lighting in this red tape to prevent it from unraveling and falling apart. Then I installed it as a tail light. Voila! I now have a medium brightness red rear light in LED format. Acceptable as a modest tail light that does not compete…

Astro observing for light assemblies and accessories

I got this to tint my headlamp/torch red to get night vision when star gazing. It is thick and durable, scissors are at hand. It blocks a significant percentage of the light - not sure I want it in the taillight. I would worry that people won't be able to see me. I also used a little to cover up the annoyingly bright clock face on the cable box. It blocks so well that we can't read the time at all, just a faint red glow. In this example that's good, but again - too much light block for the…

Works very well for lighting fixtures and accessories

This tape works well. It looks about a shade deeper than a typical red plastic taillight lens in daylight and a little darker at night because it doesn't reflect like a real taillight. If you have a chip or tear, this is the ideal long-term solution until you replace the lens. If you lose the entire taillight lens, like I just lost when someone read to me, this kit will still do, but many lenses are large, so in my car I used the entire kit (6ft) to get mine to cover old tail light Volvo S60…
