I used this fan to replace the stock fan that comes with the Intel I5-4670K. I've noticed that some recent CPU intensive games have pushed the CPU into the 90-95 C range, which isn't great. The Haswell CPU family starts with thermal management to protect the CPU in the range of 90 to 100 °C. When my CPU hit 100 degrees, this cooler was on its way. I stopped all high performance CPU activity until it arrived. Since I just installed this cooler with the included components, the highest…

Incredible reliability: CPU fan

Very reliable, great performance. I got this primarily because I've had a couple of plastic brackets on other coolers that fail or just don't hold up securely, this one has good screw-on brackets with a metal backplate. I've kept a stable 31C while idling and maxed out at 51C when gaming with music and Teamspeak in the background. Oddly enough, the cone at the front of the fan was another benefit for me, giving you just enough room not to worry about the gap to the first RAM slot.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • No insurance

Excellent cooler; not very good fan

This is a quality cooler. I remember the old days when the base of the radiator had to be lapped to make it flat. It looks flat with base material and heat pipes. In the past few weeks I've bought a K17, R17 and two R27s for various builds. All of the heatsinks seem to be of good quality and all of the associated fans are not very good (one broke). I like to build ducts that attach to the case fan and push hot air out of the case. Here is my build for my HTPC: - Silverstone Lascala Series…

Good mid-range CPU cooler

I'm using this with an Intel i5-4590 processor and as long as it cools the CPU and doesn't make too much noise, that's all you could ask for. processor cooler. The low noise level and the mounting system are the reasons why I chose this cooler. First, I really like the spring-loaded radiator mounts, and second, I like that the bottom panels are taped firmly to the back of the motherboard. It no longer requires a third hand to install a CPU fan.

  • Great price

High quality 92mm cooler for Socket 1155

I bought this fan after a long search. I have a Gigabyte Mini-ITX motherboard. On it, the CPU socket is close enough to the RAM modules and the PCI-E slot. So the CM 212 EVO cooler I had didn't fit in any configuration other than the fan facing away from the PCI-E slot. So the hot air from the fan blew directly onto the back of the graphics card. Also, this airflow was directly perpendicular to the flow inside the case (Fenix Prodigy, black). So I decided to use a 92mm fan and heatsink combo…

Rocker side of cooler

With the bigger is better race still on, finding a compact tower heatsink has become a challenge. Here is a short list: Dynatron K17 (this cooler) Arctic Cooling i11 -- fresh, very cheap cooler Master Hyper 103 -- not yet available in NAThermalRight True Spirit 90M -- fresh, improved version of True Spirit 90 Xigmatek SD963 -- old but gold, looks like reissued. Dynatron is a very well established company and while they don't seem to be chasing enthusiasts, they do offer some of the best OEM…

Great cooler, no instructions

First off, this is a heatsink with a fan attached. For most of us, there is nothing sexual about it. Easy to install, works well, fan is quiet. The description of the item does not specify which sockets it fits, but other reviewers have indicated that it fits motherboards with LGA 1155 processor sockets; The computer I was repairing had such a socket, and as expected, this cooler fitted the motherboard perfectly. For example, if the motherboard and drive bays are positioned such that the drives
