Not for heavy work - my new review

Decent bits for the price as long as you use them for what there intended for.i burned all 3 bits up enlarging a 3/8 hole in 1/4 steel plate.

Pros
  • Worked as advertised. I needed to add accessories to my boat.
Cons
  • Didn’t last long

I don't Know best in my review

The first thing I did after receiving the Bit was try it out on a piece of Galvanized Roof Gutter . It took more then 2 minutes to make the initial first step hole , The next thing was to make another hole of the same size with a Dewalt bit which did better . Then I went back to the step bit and each other increment took about 30 seconds . .Bottom line you get what you pay for ,there is a reason why you can spend $ 50 for the same size bit . .If you need to go though a piece of stainless steel…

Pros
  • Product is good
Cons
  • Expensive compared to traditional drill bits

1 time use at best good for me

Very poor quality. Had intended to use this to cut 7/8" holes in rear bumper of 2000 GMC Van to install backup sensors, but this item is a joke. The smallest two cut OK on the first try, but the larger ones are worthless. Had to purchase regular drill bits. On the second hole the smaller ones no longer worked. Waste of money for what I needed to do.

Pros
  • Needed a one inch hole in a fiberglass fairing, this bit did the trick
Cons
  • I used this one time and it went dull on the sheet metal i was trying to bore.

Couldn't cut through paper if it wanted to

If I could rate this an 1/8 of a star, I would. I tried drilling through an aluminum pole 1/4 inch thick and couldn't cut through a piece of paper if It tried. The most dull step bit I've ever come across. Horrible product

Pros
  • I use these to reem out my fence charger cover pins so I can replace items
Cons
  • Not suitable for use on curved surfaces

Great for Plastic, soft metals, and mild steel.

Never use these on stainless steel, hardened steel (like Bed frames) Just a a tip from a guy that drill metals frequently! Other wise they are great. They cut a a nice round hole and removes the edge burs.* Another tip if you want to drill bed frames . Get a MAPP gas torch and heat where you want the hole to be to cherry red. Then while hot, use a drillpress with a bit rated for hi-speed steel. The heating removes the temper. I do it all the time. And remember always wear PPE's and have a fire…

Pros
  • Not bad for the money used them yesterday, they do the trick so far
Cons
  • It's kinda good product just wears out to quickly its great for jobs that dont require alot of use

Exactly What I Needed

This is what I wanted for drilling holes in my truck bumper for the Nutsert installation .It worked as advertised and cleaned the surface for a good flat mount of the threaded rivet. They are sharp and I had no trouble drilling in stainless steel with mine. I have three A,B and C drill indexes but this saved me time getting the drills out. It has its' limits, but was still a good investment for the shop.

Pros
  • Really great drill bit for cutting holes into plastic buckets to add spigots to.
Cons
  • seem cheap but they should work as advertised

Can be adjustable! - my new review

Was able to secure a small Ty-rap on one step to limit the hole size.Used on long PVC trim for about a hundred holes m, which also needed a semi-tapered hole to hold stemware.

Pros
  • Great product.
Cons
  • Limited range of hole sizes

Not hard or durable

These would be excellent for cutting holes in aluminum cans. I tried cutting 3/4 holes in a heavy steel truck ladder rack to customize. I got almost through 1 hole before it dulled. I used oil. I avoided smoking high speed. They are just too soft. I went to get a real brand at the hardware store and walked through 8 holes with ease, proving my technique. These are fine for soft metal, but not steel.

Pros
  • I don't know how durable this would be on metal or wood, I used it on ABS plastic and it worked well.
Cons
  • Not suitable for drilling through hard metals
