Doesn't work best in aftermarket

I tried using it on my 1979 GS750 with point ignition and all the display did was flip. Position 1000 alternated between 1 and -1 and everything else was just garbage. Thought it would save me time, but oh well.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Works well in tachometers

Suitable for adjusting idle or running speed on a 4-stroke engine. Doesn't read a number quickly and seems to depend on where the wire is in the terminal. I wouldn't recommend it for chainsaw tuning as it reads RPM too slowly.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • Too blunt

Clip-on Gauge Tachometer

I bought this to easily set the idle speed on my 1976 Harley FXE. I found it displayed erratically and just didn't like the way it showed RPM. I sent it back and got a cycle time display with a speed indicator. It works perfectly.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Some Small Things

I can finally read the speed!

This worked fine for my needs. At first I was concerned about the gap between the sensor and my connector wires, but it gives good stable readings every time. I don't have a tach on my bike so it must be idling when the carb syncs. I bought it after some good recommendations and I recommend it unreservedly. As usual, Revain had the best price.

Pros
  • is also understandable for the old
Cons
  • . It gives error

Accurate and stable RPM measurement. Very happy with the purchase.

Just received today. A 9 volt battery is included, which is very nice. I'm trying to set the idle speed on my Honda Accord (the gauges on the dashboard aren't accurate enough below 1000 rpm. It worked! The rpm didn't fluctuate much (maybe +/- 10 rpm at idle) and is more correct or less matching what the tachometer showed (although it's clear that the digital gauges are more accurate - the divisions of the instrument tachometer can really only be read every 100 rpm with reasonable accuracy).

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Expensive

For passenger cars Only suitable for rev counters

Based on the description on the website and also on one of the reviews I thought it would work on a motorcycle (actually a scooter with a 4 stroke engine). It's not like this. The packaging of the device indicates that it is intended for car engines only. After receiving it, I went to the company's website. He also said only for cars and recommended a different product for smaller engines like motorcycles. It might work well for cars - I don't know. But it didn't work at all on my scooter. I'm…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • I'll write later

Car tachometer only!

Bought this device to adjust idle/max speed on various external power devices with small motors. When I hooked it up to the snow thrower, the readings were very erratic. I decided to test the device on my car. In this application it worked fine and showed the same value as the tachometer on the dashboard. There is a sticker on the box that says "Automotive use only" and that the Model 321 should be used on small engines. I would like the information to be prominently displayed in the online…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Protection

Works I think people have high hopes

I think it worked great. Please note this is for cars but so many bad reviews complain it doesn't work on small engines. It was easy to connect to my spark plug wire and once connected it started reading right away. The reading was not stable at one RPM setting and bounced up and down +/- 50 RPM, but I don't think this is a problem with the tool. I don't think my car or any other car really drives at constant speed. all the time and the displayed vibration was not displayed on the lap…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember
