Klein Tools 4-Inch Midget Diagonal Cutting Pliers, Spring Loaded D257-4C, Light Blue - Extra Large Size Review

This is real. I have another pair that I bought in 1980 when I was a full time electronics engineer and they are still in excellent condition after years of 40 hour use a week. As long as you don't need a full flushing tongs, they lie comfortably in your hand.

This is my third tool. I have one on every workbench. Bought in December 2020, opened the packaging for first use in October 2021. Was in the process of cutting a 1/8" zip tie and she broke her jaw which seems to be a problem for others. I support American manufacturing and will return to Klein for a free replacement.

In retrospect I think I would have been better off with a slightly larger model but these are very good slicers and they do what they are supposed to do. I cut 12s, 10s and 14s most of the day, but sometimes you have smaller strands or situations where the needle tip cutter doesn't work due to space constraints. They're great for a lot of situations like this, and I've probably cut 10,000 zip ties with them.

Pliers work well but look as if they were boxed before the final sharpening. I've been using small tongs for over 40 years and the finish has deteriorated over the last 10 years, it's terrible. Looks like the last sanding belt they came across was 80 grit. For the price of their tools, Klein should produce a quality product in both function and looks, they are definitely inferior in looks and disappointing. I have had the Klein linesman's tongs for several years now and they are by far the best tongs I have ever had. Very well made, solid forged construction. Lately I've been working a lot with 18 gauge stainless steel wire and have used both diagonals and artisan nail cutters. I've had good luck with a handyman in the past, but not in this case.
