Black Elkay LKQD35BK Disposer Flange: Polymer with Removable Basket Strainer and Rubber Stopper Review

Ordered this item from Bisk. While I understand that each manufacturer has their own definition of what a color looks like, what I received bears no resemblance to any biscuit colored plumbing fixture or kitchen appliance I have ever seen. In an off-white/off-white area, the flange I received had certain gray undertones and was more akin to a light gray resembling plumber's putty. Needless to say the color is disgusting and looks awful against my bisque china sink. He's back, tout suite!

This item is not deep enough to be your only debris removal flange. Once you've installed the regular depth insinkerator pieces that hold the disposal unit in place, the retaining ring doesn't even come close to matching. I ended up using Insinkerator parts for the recycle connection. Once this is done a rubber grommet will appear on the underside of the Elkay part and you can press it firmly against the insinkerator flange. Love the look, goes perfectly with the sink. It was only after assembly that I realized that it does not replace the flange assembly that comes with the garbage chute. So don't waste time deleting the old one thinking it would replace it. As already mentioned, this flange is purely for optics. It fits over the top of the stainless steel flange. Installed new sink so got a plug. It looks good, prevents water from draining when pressed down and is well made. But! As a filter to prevent food or anything from going down the drain, this is a terrible design. Only stops large objects. We're in a septic tank and have used a little $2 stainless steel wire mesh for years that caught everything. Now almost everything that came on the old screen just slips by and down the drain.
