VW Air Cooled Oil Pump Puller

For removing the oil pump from Volkswagen engines. Older style like Microbus and Beetle. And Porsche 914 Type 1,2,3,4. Don't forget to loosen the cross bolts on the case so the device slides out with less effort.

Look elsewhere, it sucks.

After loosening the crankcase and removing the bolts and outer pump housing I put this useless tool to work and on the first try both teeth on the tee bent and when I straightened them and tried again, they broke off. Full Retreat.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Requires a socket

a metal rod at the end of a threaded rod.

The metal rod at the end of the threaded rod did not pull the pump out and immediately began to bend. I welded on an extra piece of steel to reinforce it and then I was able to pull out the pump housing. Not very high quality materials used.

  • quality assembly

The dimensions are not correct, so the tool is unusable

The metal rod that is supposed to be hooked onto the oil pump does not engage. At first it seems too long, but I suspect it's actually too thick. The 1/4 inch rod can enter one hole at an angle and then slide back into the other. The 3/8" stem on the tool I received is too thick for this.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some small things
