Tremendous value. A very nice addition to my shop.

For many years I put up with the old cheap 12" combo square that my grandfather gave me many years ago. This is a replacement for this unsatisfactory instrument. The Empire E250 is well designed, well built and a huge improvement. I've usually tried to buy the very best tools available, and little by little I discovered that there was often little difference between what the "experts" judged to be the best. Next level items. Wrong in an unexpected place

I almost left a very long review on why I gave this square combo 2 stars when so many other people gave it 5 stars. There are people who leave very long reviews that really help me EXTREMELY with the purchase. I have chosen not to go into all these details. I would give this square 1 star but the rule was actually very simple. The problem was the rule itself. The tip of the rule was 12 inches long, as intended. 45 degrees wrong

I bought one of these to set up my miter and table saws but quickly found the angle was inaccurate. but 45 degrees is definitely not. I've tested it with two speed squares and a protractor, and it's about 3 degrees from 45. Aside from not being accurate, it seems like a good tool. Well built, the rule slides in and out easily. Great combo box at an exceptional price

I purchased a Starrett C33H-12-4Ry combo box ($113) along with an Empire Level E250 ($15.94) for comparison. As far as I can tell, both fit the area perfectly. Both are made in the USA, but the Starrett looks heavier and more robust. (It weighs slightly more: 13.875 ounces vs. 11.5 ounces). Starrett's vial only has a small window, making it difficult to "read".
