Very nice and strong thing. The packaging was significantly damaged but the product was well packaged and intact. The color is a little darker than in the photo, but still very pretty. I timed it with a stopwatch and it was 30 seconds faster, but I plan to use it as a decorative element only. Some of the sand will stick to the top after all the sand has drained down, but a light tap on the glass and it will fall through the hole into the ground.

That's a nice thing, but I ordered an hourglass. After trying this for accuracy I found I was getting a 1/2 hour glass. (Although I do think I should be reimbursed for the difference in price between an hourglass and a half hour clock.) The size fits my desk so I'm just keeping it. I opened the box and found the hourglass in disassembled condition. After installing a few screws (not pictured), I was left uncapped at one end of the "brass" assembly (pictured). When assembling the brass jig I also found that the screws and "bolts" don't match well - won't this product fall apart later? Also, the white plastic part can be seen in the picture, which definitely detracts from what is advertised as a well-made item. This hourglass costs about $60 and is overpriced. I used to try
