Rich feature set and long range

I bought this access point when my 5 year old EnGenuis ECB350 started losing signal. The ECB350 was a 300N serving the top floor of my house while my Comcast Arris wireless router served the bottom floor. I was also looking to upgrade to 802.11ac and the EAP1300 is attractively priced and has 2x2 Wave 2 wireless. Contrary to some reviews, I found the EAP1300 to be one of the easiest wireless products I have ever installed. I'm not a network guru and I don't work in the IT department. I'm an…

Nothing fancy, few features

After reading all the positive reviews I decided to give it a try hoping to increase my radio range. My current Cisco AP covers the house just fine, but there is a dead zone outside that I want to cover. Unfortunately, this access point did not keep what it promised. Attitude. Mine actually came with DHCP which worked out of the box. The installation guide says that when you first set up the access point you need to set the PC to a static IP address, so I figured it came in DHCP client mode…

  • Up to 30% throughput improvement over 11AC Wave 1 3x3 APs
Cons
  • Unreliable

This unit was purchased for home use and covers an area of approximately 4400 square feet with one unit on the lowest of three floors in the corner of the house access point is located. I chose this solution in combination with Ubiquiti Networks ER-X-SFP EdgeRouter X (purchased elsewhere as Revain didn't sell it directly) after abandoning combo router/WLAN solutions that my wireless devices never used connected more than three times. Days (Asus) or died within a year of use (Netgear). I have to

Excellent value for money in a semi-detached house.

Update 4/2021: I still love these. They are rock solid and Engenius is constantly releasing updated firmware. The latter now supports WPA3. Wow! After the initial check, I bought a second access point, installed it in the bottom center of the house, and the coverage is excellent. At full power, I could live with just one as the "up" signal is enough to support overhead. But I like having two. The fact is, this is a very economical, powerful access point that can be a solution if you're…
