Low-Quality Automotive Diagnostic Guide

As a result of my tests, I determined that this book is a waste of money for anyone who needs accurate diagnostic information. The content is often vague and lacks the detail necessary to properly diagnose problems. Additionally, the organization is poor which makes finding specific information difficult. On the plus side, the book does have some useful images. Unfortunately, the negatives greatly outweigh this one positive aspect. Avoid this book unless you want to waste your time and money.

Pros
  • Comprehensive guide to repair and maintenance of the Explorer Mercury Mountaineer from 2002-2010.
Cons
  • May require prior knowledge of car mechanics to fully understand the instructions.

Typical Haynes manual, don't expect anything new

First off, Mountaineer owners, you should know that this book only has Mountaineer information on the cover, and oddly, "oh, same thing Happens with the "climber" comments. said Haynes manuals haven't changed much over the years while cars have gotten much more complex. Most car servicing these days involves computers and diagnostic scanners. Haynes manuals don't cover any of that. So while it helps with basic things like brakes, suspension etc. don't expect this manual to help you do something

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Good book but maybe a bit pricey.

I bought this book, the 2002-2010 Haynes Repair Manual for Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer because of its high ratings. I'm glad I did. Haynes repair manuals have a reputation for allowing the average person and mechanics to fix their cars too I think. They show step by step diagrams of where things are including fasteners, how to take things apart, how to put things back together etc. I found this book to be Haynes' usual quality. I opened it up and found that I was intimately familiar…

Pros
  • Easy to read dashboard
Cons
  • New competition is arriving
