Excellent thermometer

Excellent article. I have another one that I've been using for a long time and this one is gradually stacking up against it. I used it to check the temperature around my air vents and the Extech thermometer was just as accurate as the infrared thermometer I tested it with. I have a stable reading. Then I went and made something. I don't have a decent way of checking the temperature on my stovetop, and I don't like burning things, so I often use a thermometer. Extech did a great job here. I…

Laser beams are always good

Always wanted. Seems well made and accurate, actually attractive and easy to use. Like others, I used it to check for air leaks and also to check my truck's heater vents when a mouse clogged it after it mixed with the heater motor. Don't worry animal lovers, this was unintentional and rewards me with a perpetual stink every day. My brother used it to check for some temperature issues on a race car. It won't act as an anti-aircraft gun against flying insects, but it's interesting to see how…

Professional thermometer

With this very versatile professional thermometer you can take the temperature at regular intervals - with a gradual loss of a specific target with a range or you can use the attachment provided to use tactile temperature measurements. The only warning, of course, is not to point the laser at your eyes, but it's certainly a necessary warning. Also remember that the surface temperature is not the same as the internal temperature. It is so sensitive that it can check whether the parking heater…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • No instructions

Overall I am very pleased with the utility and design of this thermometer. I first used it in my basement, where the previous owner installed about half of the drywall needed for that area, and the other half is covered in a mix of planks and really awful wood(?) planking. With this thermometer, I can determine whether this room is insulated or not before removing the wall paneling. I also have an old thermometer and found it to be a bit stronger and more stable. I've also used it a few times…

  • Excellent overall performance

Check appliances and insulation, entertain your cats, and chase ghosts

We love the Extech Mini Infrared Thermometer. You can check the temperature up close or remotely with the built-in laser pointer to aim at the area you want to explore. The thermometer itself makes a robust and versatile impression. (I've dropped it several times with no problems.) We have a large, almost new toaster that had problems from the start because it heated up unevenly. None of us could ever find the best place to store foods — from frozen lasagna to muffins — so they bake evenly. We…
