this is a good unit, the readings seem accurate

It's hard to train people to follow the subtle indicator lights that confirm the recorder is "on" even when it's turned on , the only way to turn it off is to connect it to a computer and use the software. a good device, the readings seem accurate, I would like the "on / off" functions and indicators to be more visual.

Only works with older PCs

Despite all the software and firmware updates for this data logger, it still could not connect to a Windows 7 64-bit computer Instructions on the manufacturer's site and tips and tricks from various user forums . If you have Windows 7 64-bit, DO NOT BUY. If you have Windows XP, it supposedly works pretty well. .

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Slightly dented

single use! Read the fine print, they are disposable.

Be careful with them, they are disposable! I was very excited to find them and I don't think I read the fine print but they are only used once! Who can afford data collection at this price?! I'm sure some industry but not mine. I suspect the need for such a great, inexpensive USB time and temperature tracking solution isn't that great since there aren't many reusable devices on the market for less than $80. I hope that will change soon and I can afford data that improves my life and business.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Low maintainability

Does the job but no instructions or upfront information

Now I have this unit working but it was a bit of a headache. 1. The advertisement does not mention that the program is on a minidisk. Slot CD devices cannot work with these discs. like all Apple products. 2. The device does nothing when you plug it into the USB port. no light, no action. 3. There is no printed manual but I expected to find the manual on the disk. not so. The device has a large orange button that has long been a mystery. In the end, we had to find a Windows-based laptop with a…

does not work with Windows 7 64-bit operating system

Only certain serial numbers work with Windows 7 64-bit operating system The software that comes with this data logger works if you have Windows XP or Vista, it unless you download the software from the Extech website. This works with a 32-bit Windows 7 operating system, but only new data loggers work with a 64-bit operating system. You'll have to call them to find out which serial numbers are newer. The data logger I received was old and not working. I had one of the old data loggers and have…

XP users take note of Parts & Accessories

I have Windows XP SP3 and have yet to get the original TH10 or replacements to work. I was in touch with customer service today after receiving a replacement unit. The replacement block behaves exactly like the block I sent back: flashing green-amber-green and then nothing. This is normal, but according to technical support, the problem is that the device driver does not load on some systems. After crashing XP 4-5 times I give up. The best alternative the technician could suggest was to look…

Works well but Extech needs to update their software

Temperature recorder works as advertised and the data seems accurate. The price compares well to other USB temperature logging solutions. However, the included driver only works on Windows XP, but I didn't try very hard to get it to work on Windows 7. The software user interface needs to be updated. It looks and feels like software from the early 90's. The CSV export feature was a disappointment for me as the data needs to be edited and formatted before I can do any effective analysis. I would…

Look elsewhere: Parts and Accessories

If you can't install the software,,,,,. The installation cannot be completed because the file cannot be found. On the box of the kit is the user manual, which is sandwiched between the leaflet. No, that is not so! Then when you find a manual online, there is no phone number listed to ask for help. My computer is running Win 7 64-bit. The supplied V 5.0 diskette says XP, Vista, Win7 32/64 bit. Update: I sent an email to support@extech.com. Steve quickly replied and asked me to download another…
