The BEST crayons for your kids start at

Like most of us I grew up with Crayola 8, Slim 12, Smooth 24 and maybe a big box of 48 Binnie and Smith crayons. You spend enough time looking at the box and you've seen every word on the box at least 1 or 200 times. Thanks to a new book I discovered, it's helping teachers, parents, and youth teach art to beginners of all ages. It seems that young artists hold their crayons round and end up squeezing or trying to paint too hard and a color breaks in half. When I heard about Faber-Castell…

Bright colors, won't break easily

Excellent colored pencils for ages 18 months+. The colors are quite bright, draw smoothly and the crayons don't break. The case is also beautiful and durable. My kid has thrown and stepped on these crayons and so far none of them have broken. She hasn't tried cutting them in half yet, so that's probably a good thing. A really minor annoyance is that the paper wrapped around the pen tends to slip off if held too long due to the heat. Also, my child slipped and fell on our cream colored couch…

A great alternative to Crayola

Smell! Colours! What's not to like?! It actually seems legit when it comes to crayons. My research online led me to conclude that this is the closest thing to crayola flowers, and yet it will be beeswax crayons. As it turns out, many other purported beeswax crayons are actually a mixture of beeswax and paraffin (ie, a petroleum product). Stockmar, for example, does not consist of 100% beeswax, but contains this mixture. However, these Faber-Castells are beeswax from what I've found so far and…

Great quality, beautiful colors

Update: After over a month of bullying, the only crayon that broke broke in half because my daughter literally jumped on it at a weird angle. She ate a large bite from the tip of navy blue and yellow (auspicious Van Gogh? Toddlers actually seem to find happiness in consuming good, bright yellow beeswax). I wouldn't recommend giving them to your kids as a snack, but given the speed of their hand-to-mouth movement, I'm glad I can be sure that they're actually non-toxic and generally very…
