I had high hopes for these chalks and they do glide well. However, we used one on dark purple fabric and even after wash, it leaves a very visible mark showing through the other side of the fabric like an oil stain. I haven't tried applying stain remover on the fabric again to see if that will erase the mark. If you are using these chalks for the first time, might want to use on scrap fabric and run through a wash/dry cycle first.

I am returning this tailor's chalk. The web info clearly states that a steam iron will remove the chalk marks -- IT DOES NOT! The marks I made to line up the pumpkin sections on a pillow cover I made are still there after I used: a steam iron, sprayed them with Shout / Dawn dish soap & water / peroxide and water / heavy duty stain remover spray, AND THEN ran the cover through the washing machine. The pillow cover is ruined. Unless you are making marks where they can't be seen -- DO NOT BUY THIS

When it comes to putting lines on fabric these are perfect, the line goes on so effortlesslessly! I've had pencils in the past that barely did any better then a lead pencil, so I was surprised there are actually things like this that mark with light pressure.Star taken off for the fact a few of mine had chips in them, one where it was nearly broken in half.I'm not gonna open up the second wrapped up half, but those ones don't appear to be broken, just the one I opened.

Having seen what they use at professional, dry cleaners and tailors, I knew I was looking for a waxy substance not the chalk that people claim shatters very easily. This is the exact stuff that they use at the dry cleaners or tailors near me.

Life Saver.This works excellent when I do alterations.Marks my garments and when I press it disappear and on to the next task ni residue .This wax marking is what I recommend.

My husband always reads the reviews and I should have paid attention to him. I now have a blue and white seersucker blouse with yellow marks.I've washed, used OxyClean spray and just about have worn the fabric away trying to get them out. While the application of the product is easy and they did arrive in great shape, I'm not happy with the result. Now to find some real tailors chalk.

So I was very fearful when I ordered this that it would come crumbled. All the pieces were intact! There was like a tiny little corner broken but nothing to alarming. The feel of these are very smooth and not like chalk. The waxy feel with the chalk is nice. Overall, I’m happy with this product.

Thank goodness I tested the blue and yellow on two different swatches. Will NOT iron out. I was desperate for the white and have already used it or I’d return. Worthless.

I need to read more carefully.the white does in fact 'disappear' w/ an iron. The yellow and blue do not! Not sure if it washes out yet. Thankfully, I tested! Saved ruining a project.

These fabric chalk is much better, no chalk residue and it’s on the fabric instead of my board underneath. I will buy again.

Used it once on material and it never came out. (Luckily I used it inside the garment so it didn't show.) My kids used it to mark the sidewalks outside and it took days of rain and foot traffic to clean it up.

These come in two plastic wrapped packs of 12. Mine arrived without any breakage.These are great for marking fabric around a pattern or drawing a design to follow. When done, the chalk rubs off easily and does not stain the fabric.On light fabric, this chalk is hard to see, but on darker fabric it works wonderfully.

Received the chalk mostly in tact which was great since it came in one of those padded envelopes. Only one piece was broken. I LOVE this chalk! It is the same stuff I use at work (I tailor formal military uniforms). It is wax based so it feels soft (rather than chalky/powdery like the stuff you use on blackboards) and doesn't come off on your fingers. It marks and stays on fabric really well and will come off in an instant with a steam iron. Definitely recommend. Only wish it came in more…

This is like regular chalk somehow imbeded into a waxy substance to make it ? stronger or more easy to handle perhaps. It doesn't rub off or disappear--which isn't quite as good as it sounds. I used the yellow "chalk" to mark on blue cotton shirting and even after washing my shirt, the yellow can be seen quite clearly.

This product is not good at all. I marked a pair of pants and the chalk left behind wont come out. It was a short line but i wiped and it still is there. What a waste.

I really haven't tried to remove this marking as I have used it inside my project. I like the ease of use and that there is not chalk dust. Color really shows well

This product works well on 100 % cotton, but it's not typical old-fashion fabric chalk as my mother used 25 years ago. It's more oily and much harder to remove (I could not remove it completely without washing the fabric) It is not as visible as I would like to (mostly when using multicolored fabric). I'd give 3.5 *

This marker has a feel of plastic and takes a lot of pressure to make a mark. I was trying mark small darts and they kept turning out larger that I wanted. Even on dark brown material, it was hard to see. I finally got a piece of chalkboard chalk and marked my fabric. I expect these will be given away. They certainly weren't worth the frustration.

As a quilter, I have to mark all over the tops of my quilts to ensure my quilting lines are accurate. These markers, in 3 colors will work on almost any fabric and the white and yellow ones disappear when ironed. I haven't used the blue one so I can't speak for its disappearing.
