Description of Factor 55 - PROLINK Winch Shackle Mount - Orange (00015-07)

Screw pin shackles are up to 5X stronger than conventional winch hooks. Conventional hooks are too small to safely fit both ends of a recovery strap. Recover straps cannot slip out of a shackle like they can with hooks. Hook safety latches are not rated for loads and can tear recovery straps. Conventional hook surfaces add higher stresses to recovery strap fibers, resulting in decreased strap ratings; Shackles can be quickly removed and stowed away until needed for winching.; Hooks do not cinch neatly against fairleads and are prone to rattling and loosening; Conventional winch hooks are designed for chains – not commonly used recovery straps; Engineered, Tested, and Made in USA — Patent Pending; Stress analyzed using COSMOS FEA and destructively tested for confirmation; Billet construction — precision machined from 6061-T6 Kaiser Aluminum round bar; 16,000 pound max load rating; Fits all steel cables and synthetic ropes up to 3/8′′ in diameter.

Great item for shackle

I used this on my truck my second day, my son fell off a 50ft cliff and I had to return his truck because AAA doesn't cover it. Anyway it worked much better than the hook, my straps didn't break the ends like the hooks. I have two of these now, one on my jeep and I will never hook up again.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Short instructions

Leave this bracket in place.

Only 4 stars at the moment because I haven't used it yet. Amazing workmanship and received earlier than expected. After almost losing the holder holding the pen, I had an idea. After installation I melted some clear paraffin into the recess where this clamp goes. This prevents the clip from accidentally falling out and also shortens the time it takes to steal it.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

This is a very good product. I think it's too expensive for what.

Very good product. I think it's overpriced for what you get but time will tell if it's worth it. I like the cleaner look and I also like that none of the winch ropes are exposed. I cover my winch with a lid so my line is completely weatherproof. The craftsmanship is excellent and I can see it working very well. It's pretty easy too. I would say it's lighter than my original winch hook.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Expensive

A must have for winch owners

This is absolutely the best upgrade you can make to your winch. This makes it a closed system that is much more secure than a standard hook. You use it with a D clamp. The shackle connects the strap to the ProLink and nothing can fall apart during winching. Much safer than attaching a winch hook to a bumper brace for daily driving. I should know, I lost my fingertip pulling the winch cable to the bumper before I bought one of these.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Can't remember

I've had 2 of these in the past and that's great, better than a hook

Excellent addition to your winch, I've had 2 of these in the past and that's great, better than a hook just get a real one Screen saver (or whatever you want), connect 3/4 shackle (chain) to factor 55 and pull. With the hook alone you still need to find a way to attach it to the point (again a strap or tree saver) and when you are done attach the hook to a point on your car rather than just a winch on the Factor 55 and you're done and your rope isn't in the sun or where thieves can steal it or…

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Zero

Looks great, made from aircraft grade aluminium, hard to believe it's as strong as they say as it's incredibly lighter than I thought it would be. This frees the front of my fairlead; There's no longer a dangling hook that attaches to the adjacent D-ring, instead there's this lovely looking center clip mount. I should add that the color I chose (green) is my favorite shade of green and the finish is excellent. It's expensive, but it gives the front of your Jeep a more refined look while…

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Not everything fits
