So disappointingly good for food strainers

Bought this to remove tomato/seed skins from my sauce. I have an older aluminum version that works great, but I don't need aluminum in my food. The design of this product is terrible. Because the stainless steel strip is placed straight up and down around the top rather than at the angle of the strainer, the wood tool doesn't touch the sides and effectively push your food through. DO NOT spend your money on it.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Ideal for removing pips and skins from sauces

I make a burnt sauce from peppers that I grow on our land. However, the hottest part of the pepper is the membrane that the seeds are attached to (not the seeds, as you may have heard). But I don't like seeds in my sauce. In addition, any dish that has not been cooked to a mashed state is also undesirable. I simply pour all of the cooked sauce over it and use the included masher or a large spoon to mash, mash, mash the pulp until all the juice comes out. Then I strain the strained sauce again…

Piece of shit! good for kitchen utensils and gadgets

The pestle could not touch the rim of the funnel because of its shape. This made it unusable for making apple butter. I used a dovetail saw and a wood scraper to remove just enough wood from just under the top of the ram. This fixed the problem and it worked great. I would have returned it but I had harvested my apple crop and it would have spoiled before even the best sieve arrived. So I cleaned it after I finished the last "cook". The tape that serves as a handle and fixes the funnel in the…

Not Chinese! Be careful

I'm not a cook but I always try to find good equipment to cook like a pro. I found out about chinoa in a recipe book and wanted smooth mashed potatoes and broth. Chinoise (sometimes called Chinoise) is a conical sieve with extremely fine mesh, and the porcelain lid has large holes. This item is advertised as a Chinese cap and it is actually a Chinese cap that costs a lot less and doesn't give you the smooth puree of thinly sifted recipes. Chinese caps are always sold much more expensive than…

Great price and product

Works as expected when processing tomatoes. Next year I will use it for plums and cherries when I find organic produce. I have had a meat grinder in the past and have found it more efficient and easier to clean than a meat grinder. I had this from my mother when I was a young bride, but it was aluminum, which is not suitable for acidic products. It holds at least 4 cups of product. Some reviewers found it difficult to clean, but the only parts that pose a real problem are the rim and bottom. If
