It doesn't seem to be doing what it's supposed to do.

Tried to figure it out, measured it, tested it for junk and restarted. The screw holes just don't match no matter how I place them. While I'm an amateur, I've built several decks so pay attention to where the screw holes should be. There are no instructions and the video is just a publicity stunt. However, the fork skips the boards well and shows the center of the lugs. Ultimately, this gave me the idea of building my own jig out of scrap.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • unreliable

This is my first time making a deck and it looks amazing.

I don't say that often, but if there were six stars I would rate it like that. We've positioned our deck correctly, screws in perfect rows and it looks amazing! My wife joined us to help and she soon became a pro at drilling and due to the adjustment all of her stuff matched what I was doing and vice versa. You can't tell which boards they or I made and this is the first deck we've ever made and it looks almost perfect.

Great idea but needs sizing options

This is a great way to space decking and ensure screw alignment. After experimenting, we decided to nail the boards with nails from 10 kopecks. Of course, this is not the size specified by Jig-a-Deck. So I took a sander and sanded the plastic forks to fit the 10p nails. then it works fine except the spikes are not canted now, it moves a bit but aligns easily with the other screws. It doesn't seem like much, but there is a big difference between 8p, 10p, 1/8" and 1/4"!

Will recommend to anyone who makes decks

I'm good with my hands, but not a professional. What I've never done is keep my propellers in a straight line. Thanks to this bracket, laying the decking took a little longer than usual, but the look of the screws, evenly spaced and straight, is just wonderful. The only thought I would have is maybe a slightly better material as the holes get damaged if the screw head goes through a few times but its flexibility allows it to move sideways so I don't have to reset it so is it's both good and…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • I have doubts

Suggested Workarounds

This tool provides accurate decking spacing when you need 1/4 inch spacing. The biggest design flaw is that the light is only 5 1/4 inches long. But most decks - both pressure treated and composite - are 5 1/2 inches wide. Putting two screws in each new plank will result in the screws being unevenly distributed on either side of the joint. The ladder allows for a slight twist so it doesn't always rest directly on the joists. The holes are wide enough to allow for easy removal of the fixture…

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
