Terrible - no grip strength, impossible to remove

I recently used these screws on a decking project with Trex. The screws had no grip strength and kept tearing out of the frame under the decking board—usually they didn't even have enough grip to pull the head flush with the top of the board. I had to constantly use all the force I could muster to physically push the screw into the board to make it flush. It was also almost impossible to try to remove them - they just twirled and twirled, unable to grab and pull back. I would never recommend…

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • I'll write back

Looks right when you're done, but you really need to pre-drill.

These are a perfect color match for my Trex Composite Deck so are cosmetically ready. When inserting and screwing in, you have to make sure that no metal is in the way. This may seem obvious, but it's worth repeating because if you use a hole punch and drive another nail or staple into the frame, the head will pull out quickly and it'll take you a hell of a long time to pull it out. First, pre-drill each screw with a 1/8-inch drill bit. Have a few pieces ready - I broke 3 doing 12ft of stairs…

Pros
  • Wood Screws
Cons
  • Slightly Crumpled

Not cheap, but they work really well in Trex decking.

I tried different colored countersunk screws that were said to be great for composite decking. They were really terrible, they extruded a big cone of the top layer of tex which formed a crater when "cut off". Terrible looks Then I got these - problem solved - no craters just a nice little screw head that easily countersunk flush with my Dewalt brushless impact driver. And the supplied screwdriver bits do not slip out when screwing. Requires a fairly high launch. Pressure to cut through the Trex
