🔧 Fel-Pro Engine Main Seal Set - BS 40631 for Rear Applications Review

Much easier than fiddling with an old rear tube and trying to straight install a new one. Simply unscrew, peel, RTV and reattach. No leaks yet, used on my 2005 Maxima engine.

The paper seal was bent in transit which wasn't a big deal as the oil barely reached the surface in that area. However, the rear main rubber gasket that fits between the aluminum housing on the rear main pipe and the oil pan is not included in this kit and you will need this bit as this is usually the point where the gasket starts to fail. That being said, it's the Fel-Pro quality that's always excellent.

Never had a leak initially but when I replaced the clutch I replaced the rear main oil seal as it was right there. My old seal still looked worn, so I'm glad I replaced it with a trusted company like Fel-Pro.

Appears to be good quality, fits perfectly. What they don't tell you, which the Haynes manual didn't do, is that the lower rubber pad (which comes with your package) cannot be installed simply by removing the clutch. I assume you'll need to lower the oil pan as well, but I don't know. I modified the shim and added a ton of shim - still seems to work

The parts in this set have confused me. If the upper oil pan falls, the front lip seal will also need to be replaced, which is why some gasket kits include both the front and rear lip seals. This Fel-Pro kit will NOT fit.
