Better than Hell RTV

Better than Hell than dealing with RTV. If I ever have to take the pan off again, I'm REALLY glad I got one instead. RTV is too uncomfortable.

Good product. The only question is how they are packaged.

Excellent product. The only problem is how they packaged it when they shipped it. They folded the product which made it difficult to install. Must be shipped flat and in non-collapsible packaging.

Product I received was defective

I just installed it on 7/6/20. This item had a small crack on the gasket which I didn't notice until I removed the oil pan gasket and started using my electric socket wrench to install it now after installing it to specs. Now my oil leak is 10 times worse.

Don't waste money on it.

I have a 2004 Toyota Corolla and you're better off using only the manufacturer recommended gasket. It's composite and not rubber, very poor, difficult to install and align, after I screwed it in it got jammed. I just went and removed and ended up with a shim manufacturer. The seal was damaged, a waste.

Installed this gasket along with the sealant and so far so good. There are no leaks at the moment so we'll wait and see.

The oil pan started leaking a few months after replacing it at a dealer I will never go back to. Learn how to fix your cars before these dealers take advantage of you and charge you for something you don't need to change. Anyway, I cleaned the old pot of all that sealant they put on it. Installed this gasket along with the sealant and so far so good. There is no leak at the moment so we'll wait and see how long it takes.

Do not tighten the oil pan bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.

I was changing the oil pan on a 1998 Toyota Corolla and had a problem installing a new pan with this gasket. The torque spec calls for 80 inches per pound per bolt, and I slowly increased the torque of all 16 bolts from 20, 40, then 70 in a criss-cross pattern. By the time I reached 70 in-lbs, the cork gasket had compressed so much that it snapped several screws and pushed them out. I used RTV on both sides of the spacer so I was confident that if I added additional RTV in certain places thisโ€ฆ
