Would like better carrying case

This soft textured reverse osmosis membrane comes with a simple diagonal sleeve. With many previous purchases I've usually received them from Revain/Home Depot in a hardboard box with air fillers or sponges. While there's no apparent damage, the experience is still twitchy.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • For old

It only falls out after a few months.

After just a few months, we noticed a strange taste in our water. The TDS was over 280, which is less than 50% of our spring water exudates. I can only marvel at how long my family has been drinking unfiltered well water. Our latest membrane was a cheaper TFC membrane made in China and lasted over 3 years with TDS <30.

  • Absolutely amazing!

Filmtec for reliability and peace of mind

Filmtec was bought for the name and the reliability it stands for. Always use this membrane. Typical in my case, TDS 185 ppm, my membranes last 5-7 or 8 years. As long as I keep the charcoal and pre-filter for their yearly replacement I can expect the same for this membrane. Location. Reverse osmosis membrane housing with 1/4 inch quick couplings. I simply put the new diaphragm in the empty case, took out the old case and diaphragm and let the system run for about 1/2 hour. When the system is…

Reverse osmosis membrane No problem

Reverse osmosis membranes are not cheap. Where I live, water is insanely expensive, so a malfunctioning diaphragm can quickly turn the cost of replacing it into flushing water down the drain. This is by far the cheapest membrane I have found for my general water system and has a noticeable improvement in cycle time and water loss after replacing my 3 year old original! I got disgusting tap water from a lake a few miles up the road. Our rural water system filters out fish, most plants and some…

Good price and great reviews.

I don't know how old my diaphragm is but we've lived here for three years so I decided to replace it. I got some in HD but it sucked and I took most of it and paid attention to the reviews and YouTube videos. Which prompted me to purchase this and several filters which I also reviewed. One of the HD had 25 gallons per day and this one had 75 gallons per day. We're probably using a gallon or less a day, so this will be fine for a long time. This one arrived quickly and I installed it and the…

Where is the quality control located?

Bought to replace my existing diaphragm which is about 2.2 years old. I don't need this as I get TDS readings of 0 through my DI resin and 6 straight out of the RO, but I decided to do it all at once. When I received it I noticed that the membrane looked different than the previous version I ordered (Dow photo - old membrane / Dupont - new). I know they split the company, so that's how it is. However, when I inspected the replacement membrane, the folds had large holes at the end and were not…

Good product, great service

So far so good. This is a branded filter at a much lower price than the last time I paid for my own branded filter. I also bought a dissolved solids meter and found that the total dissolved solids level only dropped from 26 to 23 ppm after replacing all five filters. I think a 90% reduction is acceptable, but I see some people giving higher numbers. I think that means I really haven't had to replace my diaphragm now. I did it because the flow was noticeably less. Apparently this was caused by…

Absolute trash for plumbing and kitchen

Somehow this scammer ended up bundled with APEC products. I only noticed it after looking through my purchase history. APEC buys from Dow. Made in the USA. I *thought* that when I bought a complete filter replacement for my Revain APEC C-Top system, I had all the APEC-approved filters. It wasn't until I was more able to handle the ridiculously low flow rate that I went back and found that it wasn't an OEM for my R/O system. The earlier Dow 90 GPD R/O filter purchased by APEC through Revain as…

Pros
  • Replacement water filters
Cons
  • New competitors have appeared

*I have been using Dow/Filmtec 0 TDS reverse osmosis membranes after filtering for ten years and I have attached photos with a TDS meter. I see a lot of negative reviews about a good product and will try to clear up some of the misconceptions in my review. First, Dow/Filmtec is known for making some of the best reverse osmosis membranes in the industry. I can only name one more expensive brand that is slightly better but produces water even more slowly, which frustrates many of the reviewers…
