Flex Coat F2S Wrap Finish Review

This is the first time I have coated the rod guide threads. It came out perfect. Mixes easily with a dropper, easy to apply, doesn't spread. I didn't have an automatic rotator, so I turned by hand. Maintained constantly for about 10 minutes, then intermittently (made 1/4 turn every 15 minutes) for about an hour, then 1/2 turn every 30 minutes. Looks really professional.

I've been building rods for almost 20 years and have tried pretty much every brand but I keep coming back to Flex Coat. Unless you are an experienced rod builder use a high build formula. It's a thicker formula, so it's much easier to control and more forgiving than the low structure, which is thinner and tends to build up in the middle if you use too much, creating a high slick. Your coverage will be more even if you use a thick layer.

I use Flexcoat quite often. I have to admit I can get it cheaper as I have a tackle shop but my orders take a week or two and I needed this for a quick fix on my customers rods. I use Flexcoat because it has a nice finish and makes my clients happy. I have a Steelhead that I have owned and loved for 40 years. It's nowhere to be found, and while I could have spent a few hundred dollars to replace it, I really didn't want it.
