Description of ๐Ÿ  Fluval In-Line UVC Clarifier for Enhanced Aquarium Filter Performance

A chemical-free and maintenance-free way to purify water that eradicates suspended bacteria and algae in the water column that contribute to cloudy and green water, respectively. Helps prevent the growth of cyanobacteria that often smothers and destroys aquatic plants and does not harm beneficial, surface-dwelling bacteria. CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Light) technology runs cooler than traditional UVC bulbs to last up to 30,000 hours (3X longer). Quickly connects in-line to all canister filter hosing with an internal diameter of 5/8โ€ (or 16mm), including all Fluval 07 and 06 Series filters. For use in freshwater, saltwater and even turtle aquariums where algae is often present.

The perfect product for any serious aquarist.

Fantastic product. It does exactly what is advertised. Bought my first Fluval 407 canister filter and had constant water clarity issues. I've been researching for a while and this seemed like the best way. After 1 24 hour cycle my water is crystal clear. A few weeks later, the clarity is still perfect when running at 6-hour intervals with the timer on.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Good but not great

Made my tank worse than ever.

I bought this to get rid of some smaller green algae that are developing on my stones. About three weeks after installation I developed stubborn reddish algae clinging to my glass and accessories. I didn't put two and two together until I recently turned it off and voila...my red algae never came back. I will remove this block and discard it from each of my tanks.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Empty

Easy to install

Pro-Easy to install, it took 3-4 days to see the change, only 5-7 days and the water in the tank is crystal clear now. Worked 24/7 the first week and now 24/7 for the last two weeks. Cons - no replacement UV lamp after 30,000 hours or less, entire unit must be replaced. No comment on tech support not used or needed. High cost - for a non-repairable device, that is, when it comes time to replace the light bulb, you will have to repair the entire device. For now and for the next 29,000 hours ofโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Some little things

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH FLUVAL FX FILTER

You'd think Fluval designed this cool built-in UV filter for use in the top FX range, but no! Due to the size of the 5/8" hose, it fits models with the smaller 207, 307 and 407 canisters. I had an old 404 in the box and was trying to set it up to run water through the built in UV filter , but that filter leaks and makes noise - the reason I switched to the FX4 about two years ago is a much better design for a larger tank.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Faulty

I thought this was supposed to kill the algae?

Shortly after I installed it, all the rear glass on my 150 gallon. browned by algae. In another tank I have a $50 SunSun that kills or suppresses algae for half the price. I plan on pulling it out soon while I can still see my fish as that brown blanket of mud continues to produce algae. Are you really surprised you've always trusted the Fluval brand? Maybe some cost-cutting initiatives? Grandma always said "buy cheap - buy twice" but I figured a hundred bucks ain't cheap?

Failed within 2 minutes

I was so excited to add the Fluval UV light to my Fluval 107 canister filter. I ended up fumbling with the hoses for half an hour and finally installed this UV light is beautiful and neat. Powered on, everything seems to be working, the green LED is on. A few minutes later the red LED came on. I tried turning off the light and starting over. The same thing happened - the red LED lit up after 2-3 minutes. The instructions clearly state that a red LED indicates a permanent malfunction of theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers

Probably a good product, but I had a problem installing it

I didn't like the virtual video of installing the UV filter. canisters or tubes. I wonder how many people tried to install the device after the canister only worked to turn off the filter... ...and the water spilled all over the floor making a big mess. As for me, I'm returning the Revain device. Fluval spends too much time with its OS on a virtual circuit. Show me exactly how to install this device in practice and I would be much happier.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • A little wrinkled
