Description of 🌱 Fluval Plant Care

Acting as an additional source of filtration, Bio-Stratum’s porous structure promotes biological activity for improved water quality. Rapidly reduces ammonia levels to help stabilize water conditions in new aquariums. Promotes healthy plant development, vigorous growth and vibrant colors; contains a powerful mix of nutrients, minerals and trace elements exclusively available to plants. Lightweight powder granules are non-compacting, allowing the finest and more delicate roots to easily penetrate and spread throughout the porous substrate. Supports a neutral to slightly acidic pH – ideal for live plants as well as fish and shrimp; suitable for use in smaller freshwater aquariums or as a top layer in larger tanks.

Amazing for rooting plants!

I use this to speed up the propagation of my plants and it works wonders! This is similar to cracking plants, after a few days in this layer you can see the roots starting to grow. Highly recommended for anyone trying to root their cuttings!

Excellent sales channels.

. I've used these to start seeds I've had no success with before. I have previously killed 10 plants due to using different media. Once I started doing this, my plants grew tall. I will definitely buy again in the future if needed and also when I start building my aquariums.

The best substrate for plants.

This really is the best substrate for your aquarium. Ideal for freshwater shrimp, contains all the minerals they need. For plant growth, that's crazy. I've never seen my plants grow so fast, java fern (which grows slowly) shot to the surface within a month. I love this thing, now I always have it at home

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • A few little things

Excellent substrate, I recommend it to everyone!

I have used this for most shrimp tanks as well as planted tanks. It ensures good plant settlement and helps with pH, although it is more expensive. For a 10 gallon tank it is recommended to buy 1 bag; However, for a well planted tank I would recommend 2 which makes it quite expensive. The main disadvantage for me is the cost.

  • Great design

Nice substrate

I bought £8 for my 10 gallon and it was spot on. I've seen a lot of people struggle with the dustiness of this substrate and I was a little concerned that it would be as difficult as my last substrate. But with a quick flush and holding the tank for a day, everything was completely clean. I recommend a colander instead of a sponge. Patience is key and a bonus! The mud smells so natural and fresh. It is an earthy, pleasant scent. I really love this substrate. I really recommend it!

Ideal for planted aquariums

This product is very suitable for growing plants and will keep its round shape for a long time. It also doesn't create too much dust in the tank if you rinse it thoroughly before putting it in. However, as they say, it has several disadvantages. First, it's a bit pricey compared to gravel, clay, or sand ($15 to $45 depending on bag size). Second, it's fairly light so it can be difficult to bury some plants initially and it tends to rise to the surface if placed under a more decorative top layer

Great substrate! - Aquarium Substrate

I ordered this substrate after watching a video from an advanced aquascaping specialist and hearing his recommendation. I've used Fluorite Seachem in the past and although it was a good substrate I've also had armored catfish in my tank and Fluorite is spicy so I'm concerned about them as they are bottom feeders. I also felt it was lacking in terms of promoting plant growth. I completely cleaned my 10 gallons and added this new Fluval Plant substrate. I used an 8.8 bag and it was enough for my…

After adjustment, the water is getting cleaner every day

***UpdateWeek 2. I wanted to share the progress of using the river shrimp layer. The water became crystal clear week after week. You can add two bags if you need plants as the pellets are so light my plants don't stay in the bed. They would swim to the surface of the water. Each time you add terrain, the granules will shed dust or float. Don't worry, the dust will settle quickly. So instead of taking another bag, I used plant anchors. So far they seem happy with plant anchors. My PH was a bit…
