Description of ๐Ÿ”ฅ Forney 30810 Welding Rod: Superior 1/8-Inch Rod for Flawless Welding

The product is 10LB 1/8" 7018 Weld Rod. Easy to use. All position welding, low hydrogen rod for general purpose AC applications requiring low penetration, can also be used on DC+. Designed for welding head enable steels and projects involving hard to weld steels including thick sections and restrained joints with cracking issues. Not recommended for use with low open circuit-Voltage OCV power sources. Excellent for tack welds and out of position welding. Ideal for general fabrication of cold roll steels.

Must know how to operate the welder

I can definitely say welders versus copycats on this product. They work if you know how to use them, if you don't stick to a welder, if you even know what it is. Definitely not the best bar but close and weld for this money.

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • Something else

These bars just don't glow. I tried them.

These sticks don't just ignite. I tried them with my inversion welder and then with my old arc welder. I had my wife bake them in the oven and it made no difference. They're useless for welding, maybe I can use them as knitting needles or chopsticks.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Safety

Good for 1/8 round stock, above.

This stick appears to have absorbed moisture during storage. Were not sealed like Lincoln Electric's bars. 7018 is sensitive to moisture, this degrades the mechanical properties and makes it impossible to remove the slag when you can achieve a stable arc. ๐Ÿ–“ Production needs to know better or quality control needs to be more consistent.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • No mold required

Flux tips are all broken

There was nothing in the plastic container preventing the sticks from moving up and down so almost half of them had their flux on the tip broken and everyone knows how important it is to have one The whole top wasn't half broken either and the Revain box was too big compared to the box with welding sticks, it didn't have bubble wrap in it so it wouldn't slide around and mess up the sticks. I had a job to do this morning that I couldn't use even half of it

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • Some problems

center electrodes. They work fine

So these electrodes are fine. Not the best I've used but still good. They bend fairly easily, run smoothly, and leave a nice bead. Actually there is nothing to complain about. Packaging is a different story. The 7018 wands must be dry and they arrived with a plastic wrap on the outside of the box wrinkled at the bottom of the shipping box containing electrode dust. There was no desiccant either. Otherwise I would have given five stars.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Some errors

I'm fine, nice welds!

These rods suit me. I set up my little DC inverter welder rated at about 120 amps on 3/16" wall pipe to test them. They are welded with the desired degree of penetration, the puddle is easy to control, and the slag immediately flakes off. My welds look just like the professional welds you see in YouTube videos and I'm a total welder. I was really struggling to restart them UNTIL I discovered a trick from a welding instructor on YouTube: just give a quick scrape on a piece of sandpaper to cleanโ€ฆ

Pros
  • It's amazing
Cons
  • It's hard to remember but it was
