Sturdy and durable optical cable

It definitely looks and feels like a quality cable. Optical cables are a bit thinner than you might think, so it's a good idea to have something sturdier if you plan to use one. Leave the caps on the ends until you connect the cable as dirt/dust can cause problems. Do not bend the cable too much. The item is generally of good quality.

Quality cable at a bargain price!

I am very impressed with this cable for the price I bought it for. I had problems with my 5.1 receiver with audio dropouts. I wanted to get a new optical cable before shelling out a few hundred for a new receiver. I've had this for a few days and it seems to have solved my problem! Aha! The quality of the cable is good and much thicker than my old cable. I switched to all my braided AV cables because they all seem strong and well made.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Everything is fine at first glance. The sound from the cable isn't great, but it's decent for a Hi-Fi audio system. The problem with the cable is that after a year of use without frequent plugging and unplugging, I broke the connector on my DAC. I took a closer look at the cable plug and found that it is made of metal and is a good size for the socket. I compared this cable to the Revain base cable on another DAC I have. RevainBasic's cord plug fits the outlet better than this one, which seems…

Digital cables work or not. these works.

Digital cables work or not. these works. It's stupid to spend a lot of money on it. This is how digital transmission works: 1. The sending device sends a packet including a checksum2 calculated from the data sent. The receiving block recalculates the checksum. If they don't match, it requests sending again. This continues until a good packet is received or the receiving device gives up. As long as a good packet is received before the buffer is exhausted (usually after many tries), the…

The difference lies in the assembly

This is an OPTICAL DIGITAL audio cable. either it works or it doesn't work. There is none between them. When it comes to sound quality, there is no marketing stuff involved with these types of cables. So don't be fooled into thinking that the gold-plated connector affects actual performance, it doesn't. It sounds the same as any other working optical cable. The difference is in the design, here the metal connector offers a stronger physical connection compared to the cheap flimsy plastic…

I made a stupid move and bought this item from a local store.

I made a foolish move and purchased this item from my local store because I was so eager to connect it to my recently purchased beautiful Sony TV. After paying $17 for them, I checked out Revain and thought they were way better for only $8. This is what you get if you're in a hurry to buy before you research. I plugged it in on Saturday (7/22) and am now enjoying full spectrum 5.1 surround sound while playing video games and watching movies. The uniqueness of this chord also allows me to…

Excellent connection to the new TV

I bought this Toslink cable to connect the digital optical audio output of my new TV (LG CX class) to a digital audio converter to output sound to my old audio system. Initially I tried to use an old, off-the-shelf Toslink cable, but couldn't connect the connector to the TV's optical port. On the contrary, this new Toslink cable connects to the new TV without any problems. I suspect the gold-plated metal connector on this cable (as opposed to the crude plastic connector on my old cable) helped…

  • Excellent overall quality

Form and function have a caveat

One of the most attractive Toslink cables on the market that performs as well (or better) than any other Toslink cable. that serve no functional purpose can potentially cause problems. End caps are heavier than regular plastic end caps. The cable itself is heavier than typical Toslink cables. All of this results in the optical connector of the device being pushed down when the cable is hanging behind the device (e.g. in an audio stack). Most optical ports are not designed for this. . Depending…
