Works well and is lightweight. Worth the extra money

This compressor has been running on my '79 Mercedes for a couple of weeks now and is working fine. Very happy with them so far. A few installation notes: The equipment connected to the compressor is SAE compliant. Depending on the application, you may need to purchase new screws. The pulley is a little proud of the crank pulley but close enough to the Mercedes V8. This supercharger is about 20 pounds lighter than the A6 steel it replaced. It took about a week for the clutch to break and stop…

I have two of these compressors, I installed them on a 1972 El Camino and a 1976 Firebird. If only they were expertly installed in my favorite AC outlet. New condensers were also installed. These blocks work well. If others are having problems, I suggest overhauling your cooling system. I use aluminum heatsinks with two HO electric fans and high quality relays/sensors. The compressor broke down after about an hour of suburban driving and now made an extremely loud whistle while running, similar to a broken bearing or piston. In a car with the windows open, it's loud enough to be unbearable and louder than…

Acceptable modern replacement

Design not as shown. Not a big deal as all attachment points are the same, but I don't care what I got. The clutch mechanism is completely hidden within the pulley, so you can't see if it's engaged or not (and you can't check the clutch air gap). And the location of the ports on the back bothered the nut looking like a purge valve. I had to sand a small piece to fit the air conditioner. The compressor housing is rather soft metal (read, easily removed). Mounting hardware is not included and the
