I prefer lever switches to standard switches because they are easier to find in the dark and I think they are safer for children to operate the switch with wet hands . We replaced our regular switch in our bathroom with a paddle switch, so we had to replace the current switch plate. I came across this decorative plate. Wife loves it and goes great with our decorative tiles. This is a painted metal plate, not plastic.

They are very beautiful, look high quality and look great on the wall. I ordered two of these, two double socket covers and a double light switch cover for the spare bedroom. My walls are painted a very light gray so I was a bit skeptical about ordering them as some people said they were cream. They are not "white" but not cream-colored. They are in between. These are NOT white, they are off-white/ivory. They add the perfect touch to my vintage nautical themed bathroom and I have also used them in my Victorian dining room. They look great in both places and are such an easy and inexpensive replacement. Installing one of them takes no more than 5 minutes.
