I didn't use it on the beat. Thinner than I hoped, no padding but good support. Too much grip for my stupid use as PVC softplay sword hilts, my little nephews got blisters on their hands after playing with them for hours. Something softer and smoother would actually work better.

Bar tape, like everything else bike related, has doubled its price. I'll tape off the steering wheel when it goes away. This tape is great for that purpose. It's not as thick as regular bar tape, but if you're using old tape it's great. The adhesive covers the entire back of the tape. It doesn't stretch. The paint doesn't wash off your hands.
