🔧 Freud FB 007: 1 Inch 8 Inch Forstner - Premium Precision and Versatility Review

I was excited at the prospect of using this accessory and it did not disappoint. I used it the first time to pull out a piece of walnut wood that I wanted to make into a pencil holder. It did a great job. Of course, it's not very big - I had trouble making this with 2"+ foresters. However, this bit did exactly what I wanted and didn't seem to get terribly boring in the process. I should mention that cutting with grain is never easy and I highly recommend it.

I cannot praise Freud enough. I have found that their products are usually well designed and carefully crafted. This Forstnerschlag is no exception! Note the holes on either side of the cutting head. They fulfill two functions. First, the hole allows you to see clearly where you want to drill. Secondly, it very effectively cleans the hole of dirt, which contributes to excellent dust collection. Freud is listed. This is Freud's Diablo, the brand you see at Home Depot. For the price, this is a great hobby drill if you don't need a precise 1" hole. What I did and I'm a little concerned. I needed a hole for 1" oak dowel. As a result, I sanded the dowel a bit. It was better to modify a cheap dowel than risk ruining my valuable work. I suspect Diablo is second only to Freud , although it's still good.The edges are even,no shavings,no warping,makes even holes with good shavings,no dust.I use
