Freud stands for power and hand tool quality

Tools come in all shapes and sizes. Usually you get what you pay for. You can buy an entire set of used Forstner bits, or you can put together the quality bit sizes you need and you'll have tools that will serve you for many years. After borrowing a titanium-coated 1 3/8-inch Forstner, a popular size for making race car weights out of pine, I decided to toss the junk and go with Freud's bits. I only needed 3 large sizes. a bunch of junk, i have a few beauties that cut sharp, stay sharp and work

Pros
  • Clockwise rotation
Cons
  • Available in white only

Do not accept substitutes

Years ago I bought a complete set of Fortsner bits in a nice wooden box for about $8 more than this bit. When it came time to use them, they came in really handy for getting the exact size I needed. Nothing more. Apart from burning wood, they are practically useless. It amazes me how they can make a part that looks exactly like the real thing and then capitalize on the fact that they can't give it a decent raw edge. That was before I really learned about cheap imported cutting tools. When I had

Pros
  • Drill straight, angled and overlapping holes
Cons
  • Not as thick as other screwdrivers

Nice piece for occasional use.

This is the size required to drill holes for euro hinges. Like all Freud bits I have purchased this bit is very sharp, does not wobble and cuts like a pro advertised clean holes. I'm happy with his work and you can't beat the price. Specialty bits for euro grinds are $75-$125 and usually have carbide tips. If you were making kitchen cabinet doors and drilling hundreds of holes a week, this would be necessary , but in my small specialty shop I only occasionally install euro-hinges and this bit…

Pros
  • Item is a 1-3/8" forstner bit
Cons
  • Some errors
