Well designed and carefully crafted.

I can't say enough about Freud. I have found that their products are usually well designed and carefully crafted. This Forstnerschlag is no exception! Note the holes on either side of the cutting head. They fulfill two functions. First, the hole allows you to see clearly where you want to drill. Secondly, it very effectively cleans the hole of dirt, which contributes to excellent dust collection. The drill is very sharp and precise. The results are professional. Clean and Smooth for Forstner Bits

I bought this for an important project I'm working on. I had other Forstner parts, but when I was building a sign for a client I needed to drill some precise holes for some of the lights I was installing in the sign. I've long been a fan of Freud's instruments; I almost exclusively use their milling cutters and circular saw blades. This Forstner bit did the job and even better than I expected when drilling a 1/4" deep hole in 1/2" birch plywood. The holes were clean and smooth with no cracks…

Ideal for countersinking in sheet material.

I didn't use this standard 1 1/2 inch Forstner bit. I installed a couple of LVL supports parallel to the existing support to remove the column. Joists together, I had to drive the studs through the drywall to the wood. Not knowing what the best option would be, I bought a 1 1/2" drill bit and a 1 1/2" spade bit and it's a 1 1/2" Forstner bit. I'm sure the drill can work, but it's not a clean hole as it starts with a lot of hesitation before cutting. The spade drill works well but struggles to…
