Not to a friendly product. More support with pfSense

I would rather use pfSense, FriendlyWRT is badly programmed. but pfSense only works with Intel or AMD processors with at least 2 Ethernet ports. Nice little but doesn't work my purpose! Item just returned!

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Throughput on computers and accessories

Configured as a gateway, I got a throughput of 400 Mbit/s from an iperf3 client on the LAN to an iperf3 server on the Internet. This was with the Ubuntu 18.04 kernel. My internet connection is an AT&T fiber optic connection, which typically downloads and uploads at around 900 Mbps.

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • So far so good

Tiny router that CAN

Great product! Together with Docker, FriendlyWRT is an ideal platform for working with open source solutions. I use Asterisk and a reverse proxy to forward traffic to multiple servers while still powering IP phones and still using Plex in my own Docker container. Would recommend to anyone who can use the Linux command line and the wiki is a great starting point for what's possible.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Decent little router/firewall but no VLAN trunking.

The friendly OS does not allow VLAN trunking and it is not clear how to use another OS. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Long time
