These cans cannot withstand hot liquids. I always suspect that mason jars won't hold up to boiling hot liquid, so I let the pickle cool enough to test with my finger. After I poured warm brine into the jar and closed the lid of the jar, it broke. This happened at three banks. I would not recommend these jars for marinating or jams, they will not hold hot or warm liquids.

These tins and lids are thinner and lighter than tins from real big names (although not cheaper, so it doesn't mean you get what you pay for) and none of them didn't seal when I tried to seal them in a hot tub. Maybe I could figure it out by reading the Q&A or the reviews more carefully, but the product description made it possible. Two stars because they would be good for something else, but I wouldn't buy them for "food storage" as they claim.

I haven't been able to open this box for weeks, so I missed the return deadline. The accompanying literature for these glasses states that they are not heat resistant. It specifically states that there are no microwaves, ovens, or freezers, so actual canning seems out of the question. It also states that glass should not be exposed to extreme temperatures. This makes it useless for the advertised "jams, jellies, preserves, canned goods, fruit syrups, chutneys" deal. Looking at the description…

Had to give a star because of the lids. The jar is good for canning. I hard boiled them and they didn't rise. Lids were my problem. They were very thin and I wasn't sure the lids would close properly after looking at them. I have selected the best lids. I'm a dedicated Ball/Mason/Kerr Conservator.
