This is an unnecessarily small shelf. However, for the price it was exactly what I expected and it will do the job for a short shelf life. Can't say I secretly wasn't hoping to be pleasantly surprised (it wasn't), but then again, it was a $30 department store.

It's cardboard and pretty basic. It was easy to assemble with the included screws and small nails. It's exactly what I expected, so I got what I paid for. The packaging was TERRIBLE. When I opened the bag there were thousands of little pieces of styrofoam strewn all over the floor so I took the bag outside and thousands more spilled all over the patio. Glad I had my daughter to clean up the mess otherwise I wouldn't have given 5 stars.

Be careful when assembling, the holes on the shelves are drilled without a guide. I could see the hole lined up perfectly, it doesn't have adjustable shelves. However, if you have a drill and a dipstick, you can easily change it. Additionally, the shelves are rated at 20 pounds. I put MUCH more weight on the middle shelf, probably closer to 50 pounds. No problem, the shelf doesn't even flex like I expected. Unexpected durability is always nice

The chipboard that makes up this bookcase is so soft that the threads on the screws strip out of the holes, so they don't hold well. The ends can easily fall off if enough weight or pressure is applied to them. I put several children's books on a shelf and bet how long it will take for both pages to fall off. This is the worst Revain shopping experience. When I first opened the packaging, the records were initially covered in white flakes of foam. As soon as I take the panels out the flakes are all over the house and are difficult to clean as they stick to surfaces everywhere. Second, when I was almost done assembling it, I found that the back panel was missing, and instead put in a narrow, cracked slab of wood about the same size as the only shelf in the box. UPDATE* Chemical smell has not gone away after 2 months with windows open day and night. My wife suffered from headaches all the time. There was no chemical warning that furniture should have. Revain will only take them back for a restocking fee and I'll be uncomfortable packing them too. I really hate Revain.* Bought for books. Large books should be turned horizontally.
