Would I Buy Again - Shocks, Struts & Suspension

Very easy install on my 2003 Pontiac Bonneville SE. They replaced a set of worn shock absorbers. They solidified the ride without making it ride hard. Some people have described the "dump truck" feel, but that's definitely not my experience. The kit they give you is very complete with all the connectors you need to customize it for your specific application.

Pros
  • Rear: Cadillac: 2006-11 DTS, 2000-05 DeVille, 1998-04 Seville
Cons
  • Intervals

Complete sentence. in Shocks, Struts & Suspension

Was shocked at the price of these shocks with everything that came with them. Easily level my 02 Bonneville with auto-leveling. It took about three hours from start to finish including assembling all the tools, jacking up the car, installing the shock absorbers and cleaning. They replaced a set of Monroe Air Shocks that had been in the car since 2007 and cost me over $200 a pair (plus $118 for installation) at the Monroe Muffler Store.

Pros
  • America's Most Famous Air Adjustable Shock
Cons
  • I don't have much dislike for it, everything is fine

Gabriel 49228 shock absorber review

The shock absorbers were delivered on time with no problems but the shock absorbers do not come with compression nuts or mounting sleeves as you must use the old one the shock absorber to be replaced. All air ducts and fittings were present and worked without any problems. I replaced the OEM air springs on my Pontiac SSEI, adjusted the air pressure to 40psi and the level sensor warning was not working. Compared to the old shocks there was an improvement in cornering and stability which I was…

Pros
  • May help improve handling and reduce risk of sinking
Cons
  • I will be silent

Great versatile replacement.

Super easy replacement. Don't be fooled by the amount of parts included in the kit. Since this is "universal" it should cover all the bases. I didn't even use any of the small duct parts on my '03 Lesabre. I connected new lines and that was it. Super nice and super cheap compared to your local parts store and you pay more plus tax. If you find this review helpful, if you are planning to buy it or about to buy it, please mark it as helpful! Thanks very much!

Pros
  • Up to 1100lbs per pair Leveling capacity Less than gross vehicle weight Rated weight, product does not increase payload
Cons
  • Poorly designed

Monroe vs. Gabriel Replacement Rear Air Shocks

Do not purchase Monroe 822 rear shocks for 1997-2005 models. etc. for Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac and GM vehicles with rear shock absorbers. They are designed for a hard truck that shakes the car terribly without giving in. They are designed for very heavy loads. After a year of suffering and talking to many GM mechanics and dealers without any help, I finally spoke to a manager at Gabriel with reassurances that they have the right man! Only $75 for a pair and I had the Cadillac dealer fit them so

Pros
  • Rear: Oldsmobile: 1995-03 Aurora; Pontiac: Bonneville 2000-05
Cons
  • Requires socket

Good value for money. Works perfectly.

Arrived quickly and in excellent condition The shock absorbers are also quick and easy to fit (about the same time as a regular shock absorber). Mine are installed on a 2000 Buick LeSabre with auto leveling and seem to be running great for a few months now with a much needed improvement in handling and ride. The air line fitting was also installed quickly and airtight using the car's existing stock air lines (although new air lines are included, I used the car's existing air lines). The kit…

Pros
  • Ideal for temporarily towing boats and trailers or heavy loads
Cons
  • Good but not the best

Autozone's Best in Shocks, Struts and Suspension

Autozone will charge an additional $5-$10 for the same pair of rear shocks. You can get them even cheaper here at Revain.com if you don't mind them being "used like new". Price $60 for new, unused shock absorbers. I've seen "like new used" shock absorbers for about $45. Amazing value for quality shock absorbers. There is one thing to remember. Be sure to set these shocks to your desired ride level. If you need a harder ride for a more dynamic driving, you can do this. If you want a softer…
