Disappointed Good for sports and wearable GPS

Have had a Garmin Forerunner 220 watch for years and love it. Unfortunately I lost it. It was like losing my right arm so I paid extra for shipping to get a new 220 asap. When I tried to charge it the display didn't light up - it should light up when plugged in and show % charge. I cleaned the contacts (was there, did it) and left them overnight - over 10 hours on the charger. When I first plugged it in, it beeped to confirm it was connected and recognized by Garmin Connect. The display was…

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Works fine for me - Cheers Garmin!

I've owned several other gamins over the years including two multisport and two running and this is my favorite of them all. I have to say I've only relied on Garmin's multisport for swimming and cycling (I use a Garmin computer on my bike) so I really need GPS for running - I like tracking pace, elapsed time and distance. on a screen. I don't use virtual partners; I'm not interested in VO2max estimates and am skeptical of calorie counts as I've seen mixed results across different…

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Infinitely Sluggish

This new Garmin watch has much more advanced GPS antennas built in

Got this as a Christmas present (2014) for my girlfriend to replace her 'tired' Forerunner 305 due to battery issues , to be charged further about an hour. Either send it in for repair/replacement for $75 (or more) or just buy her a new one. These new Garmin watches have much more advanced built-in GPS antennas and this watch is proof of that. Acquires a satellite very quickly, typically within 10-15 seconds. Even faster when enabled from the repeat start point. Battery life is excellent as it…

Pros
  • Lots of good vibes
Cons
  • Obsolete model

The perfect watch for running!

I switched to this watch from a Garmin Forerunner 205 and have been hooked on everything around 220. a day for a week; 41% battery left!) - Lightweight (205 was bulky and too big to wear like a regular watch) - Buttons are easy to press (205 buttons had to be pressed; 220 buttons is just perfect) for me, too when I'm wearing gloves) - Kickstand locks securely in place for charging - Icons are good to see when you set a new record - Fairly intuitive (setting the clock is pretty easy)…

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Protection

Good watch for beginner runners

A few weeks ago I started running regularly (3-4 times a week, only 15 miles a week at the moment) so I consider myself a beginner runner and don't need all the bells and whistles in a running watch that may be needed by an experienced runner. This watch does its job well. What I like: Light watch, no extra weight on the wrist which would be a problem on long runs, the display is clearly visible even in direct sunlight, the watch has the data I need like heart rate, cadence, pace, speed…

Pros
  • The heart rate monitor is a chest strap sold separately.
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Stellar Product!: GPS, Finder, and Accessories

Pros: Connects to satellites quickly, typically within 30 seconds for me, much shorter in most cases. Accurately records distance and allows me to customize gauges so I can always see my heart rate. When combined with a heart rate monitor, gives an accurate estimate of calories burned. Small and light enough to be used as an everyday watch without looking bad as such. The screen is easy to read in broad daylight and the backlight is bright enough to read the screen in the dark. Cyclists…

Pros
  • Built-in accelerometer measures distance, pace, and heart rate
Cons
  • Some small things

So, the watch itself: Pros: Very fast connection to satellites, phone, heart rate monitor. I really like how light it is. All in all I can't complain. It does the job and I love it, only more of my own custom settings, I wish they were a little different. Nothing that could really be fixed by snapping to a few stars etc. Cons: I wish there was a timer, heart rate, and also a distance screen. The toggling works, but I really wish I had shown these three combinations on screen in a specific…

Pros
  • Tells you when you hit a personal best. Pause and resume timer depending on speed
Cons
  • I have no particular negative feelings about it, everything is fine

Best Garmin GPS Watch!

I am a runner who uses the Galloway method (run/walk) for sprints, half and full marathons, and trail races. I've been using my old Garmin 201 continuously for a little over 10 years and I broke it and only ordered this watch as a replacement after my old 201 had serious problems getting a charge (and in fact I suspect the old stand for Charging is the real culprit). The 201 has served me so well that I just couldn't find a new GPS running watch. Wow I can't believe how AWESOME this new Garmin…

Pros
  • Advanced GPS running watch with high-resolution color display and comfortable, lightweight design
Cons
  • Almost OK
