Garmin Forerunner 610 Charging Cradle Review

Good for charging my watch although I have to say I don't like this type of connector and I wouldn't buy another Garmin watch because of it . Sometimes the watch runs out of power for no apparent reason. This is not due to the charger but to the poor design of the watch.

Love love love my 610. HATE HATE HATE this charger. You have to fiddle with it to charge it, and unless you look closely, this thing is actually draining the watch instead of charging it. The contacts appear to be spring-loaded, and as soon as the watch sweats a bit, the spring stuff naturally sticks. Just not a good design.

Needs to be replaced every few months as the pins wear out or become damaged. If it was from sweat or other contaminants, one would think the pins on the back of the watch would have the same problem. You are not. Replacing the charger always solves the problem; never had any problems with the watch. Garmin should do something to improve the charger so I don't have to spend $15 on a new charger every few months. The cost of chargers will soon be the same as all watches.

I bought this product because my original Garmin charger has stopped working. I paid extra to have this product delivered overnight so I can use it for a very important run today. I plugged it in last night - it seemed to be charging. Woke up this morning and the clock is completely blank. So now it doesn't work at all. I'm so glad I paid the extra money to get a product that actually degraded my watch. I am always disappointed with Garmin and its products. It's time to look for a new brand.

Not only is that magnetic charger annoying, it's also proven unreliable. The contacts are spring loaded and on the first two I owned the spring on one of the contacts broke making them unusable. To be honest I have to take some of the blame as I've been known to put it on the charger right after a run and the residual sweat may have corroded the electrodes/spring but what an idiot designed it, to make you sweat in the electrical connections.
