Description of Garmin GLO Portable GPS Receiver with GLONASS Technology and Vehicle Power Cable

Connects wirelessly to iPad iPhone and other Bluetooth enabled smartphones, tablets and laptops. This allows GLO to lock on to satellites approximately 20% faster and remain connected even at high speed. GLO can receive position information from both the GPS and GLONASS satellite constellations, allowing it to connect to up to 24 more satellites than devices that rely on GPS alone. It offers up to 12 hours of battery life and a position update rate of up to 10 times per second. The application will allow the Android system to accept non-system GPS/GLONASS signals. GLO, vehicle power cable, USB cable, Li‐ion battery pack. Compatible devices: BlueChart Mobile, Fishing My-Cast, Garmin SteelPilot Onboard.

DOESN'T WORK WITH WINDOWS 10

Doesn't work with Windows 10. You know, this obscure operating system was released two full years ago. You will not find this information on the Revain product page. Nor does it appear on the Garmin product page, which I find disingenuous. No, you'll find it as a footnote to some posts on Garmin's support page, having already bought the POS and spent three hours getting it up and running.

Pros
  • Wow
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Works great for Pokemon Go on iPad with WiFi only

Suitable for Pokemon Go on iPad with WiFi only. You have to use your phone as a hotspot to access the internet, but the Garmin GLO will give you an accurate GPS location. All you have to do is connect your device to an internet source (wifi, phone hotspot) and connect Bluetooth to the GLO and you're done. Now we can easily walk around the park where you still lose the position signal if we stray too far from other Wi-Fi pings.

Works great with iPad mini 2

I was able to connect it to my iPad mini 2 in my car via Bluetooth in less than a minute. I also have an iPad connected to my phone's hotspot so it has internet. I use Waze on my iPad due to traffic on my commute and it works great. I added a non-slip dash mount for the receiver that works great too. The all black color allows it to blend into my all black interior so all people see a few little lights when the receiver is on. Very glad I found this as an option for a tablet without GPS. Saved…

Worked great in fairly dense tree cover

I used this device with an iPad Mini 2 and the Avenza mapping app to track my location in the Palau areas. Glo did very well. Excellent battery life (one full charge far exceeded my 4-6 hour continuous jungle excursions). I charged it every night but it would last 8 hours or more on a single charge (I left it on a couple of times and it lasted over 8 hours). It simply connected to Bluetooth on my iPad and usually found satellites within a minute or two. It was traced very well even under the…

REQUIRED for car windows with RF blocking coating

Before: I drive with a coating that blocks RF (and UV) radiation, so my Android phone kept losing GPS lock. It was funny at times: google maps thought I was on the wrong side of the freeway and gave me directions to turn back, then thought I was on a back road and was completely confused. This was frustrating at times, especially when I was looking for a detour in heavy traffic, for example. After: I installed the Bluetooth GPS app (it's awesome), connected the GLO, turned on the dummy GPS…

Removable battery but confusing charging process

GLO connects to your Android or iOS device via Bluetooth. For my Samsung S5 I can either use Bluetooth GPS with fake device location enabled or it can be used as an external GPS device depending on the app. It allows updates up to 10Hz, but I mostly see it around 8-8.5Hz (which is better than 1Hz for built-in GPS devices). Charging the battery is very annoying. Apparently I have to leave the device on to charge it from the USB port. If I turn it off while connected to a charger, it doesn't…
