Unreliable, and the battery is extremely difficult to replace.

This device works very well as long as it doesn't delaminate and fail. I had two of these. The first one lost connection to my Garmin 510 after about a year. Replacing the battery didn't help much, so I bought a new one. It starts to fail after only three months, which brings me to my second complaint. Of course, the first thing you do when your device fails is to change the battery! However, this is extremely tedious and error-prone. Rather than using something sane like a tiny hex head screw,

Big!. for a month or for those who don't work more than an hour

This HRM has worked flawlessly with my 920XT for about a month. About a month later, as I resumed my long runs, which typically lasted between an hour and a half to two hours, I started noticing definite dips where my heart rate kept dropping no matter how hard I tried. I've noticed that it only started appearing after about an hour of training and recently earlier in training at about 40 minutes. From a lot of other research, reviews and forums, it seems to be related to the accumulation of…

UPDATE AUGUST 2018 - crashed in 4.5 months. A Garmin watch strap broke and was left unused throughout July while awaiting replacement. Unfortunately, a new watch strap and suddenly Garmin Vivoactive can't find this heart rate monitor anymore. changed the battery - a manufacturing nightmare with 4 smallest stuck screws that only a jeweler's screwdriver can do - only to have the same problem which HR couldn't find. WTH. Would I then try another new battery just in case I put the old one in? but i

Avoid this product. It's not worth the headache.

I've had 3 (three) of these piles of junk and every time I feel like it must be me. No, Garmin is nothing more than a greedy company that keeps making a product that people are having trouble with just so they can make a few million more. Why use 4 screws on something like this? Why use the 4 softest screws known to man? On a device that is exposed to sweat and salt every day? Because they are scammers. I will not spend any more money on this product and neither should you. It will work right…

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

I bought this for my girlfriend to do aerobics. I have my own working HRM3 which I received from REI. This review is less of a slap to a Garmin product and more of a slap to whoever is responsible for shipping quality control. This is the second time I have purchased a Revain harness at a reduced price and have received a poor product that had either a loose connection or no connection at all. Later I went to REI and paid full price and got a fully functional device.1. Item arrived in polybag…
