$300 for this nuisance?

I am having a terrible time with this product. Yes, it does not automatically change to the next hole. Am I looking down to 100? Pin and see the 209 then I have to adjust the bore and its technique via golf and I'm pissed and that's why I didn't buy it. I bought to just look at the watch and know what's front and back. Now I've been playing around with the buttons. Terrible. Plug and play Garmin. Plug and play please.

Pros
  • Battery life: up to 15 hours in GPS mode and up to 10 days in smartwatch mode
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Launched straight but ended up disappearing in the water

Worked great for a week then kept disconnecting and reconnecting to my phone it was paired with. Notifications stopped working and after restarting the phone it was not possible to connect the watch to Garmin apps, which was not a problem before. Go back and select a different model. On the other hand, the golf part felt accurate and worked well with a simple user interface. I don't know why the watch lets you take calls when you can't talk without a phone, kind of a useless feature.

Pros
  • AutoShot Projectile Analyzer automatically measures and records distances to detected shots (prone and ball contact can affect shot tracking) and combines with optional Approach CT10 stick tracking sensors (sold separately) for a more automated game tracking capability
Cons
  • Almost never

Great tool for playing on the course

for everyday use. The watch is extremely comfortable to wear and I love its smartwatch functionality. They won't blow you away with the features that other smartwatches have, but I'm fine with that. GPS accuracy captures course and connects and tracks your game very quickly. The phone app is by far my favorite part. He analyzes your game, tells you what you do best, what you need to work on and compares you to other players with the same handicap. Would absolutely recommend to any golfer who…

Pros
  • Combines with the Garmin Golf App (when downloaded to a compatible smartphone) for real-time scoring, automatic scorecard downloads and all stats in one place
Cons
  • Expensive

Great specs but very inaccurate - had to return

If it works it's a good watch/odometer. However, I've had a few instances where he was on the right hole but missed by 100 yards! It seems like the connection to the satellite is lost or something crazy is happening. I restarted the watch and encountered the same problem. So all you can do is reboot and move the satellite. My old Garmin S2 was basic but always top notch. In short, the S42 has great specs, but out of the 8-10 rounds I played I had the same problem about half the time. For the…

Pros
  • Easy to read 1.2" color touchscreen display with interchangeable quick release straps
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Better coverage for GPS, finders and accessories

This is my first golf watch. First, a very stylish, squarer watch. I'm glad I chose the G42. I love the feature that shows the distance of your throw (the top number in the picture), now I really know how far I can hit the ball. The front and back green distances helped me a lot with my golf game. I look at the distance to the front green and then decide how aggressive I should be. It's better to keep the ball under the hole than to fly over the green. Before starting the round, make sure you…

Pros
  • Green View feature allows for manual pin positioning; Quickly find distances to the front, middle, and back of the green, as well as obstacles and corners
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

I think I have a lemon

The screen is very dark, difficult to see indoors or outdoors as shown in the photos. It freezes on the weather screen and doesn't respond to swipe gestures or button presses. I have to hold down a button to reset it and then go through the entire reset. The charging cable keeps falling out and even when I plugged it in overnight it never fully charged. Pooh. For nearly $300, I really wanted it to do what it's supposed to do. i give it back Sad.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Power socket required
